Historic Gt Legends Series
Hey Guys
Sundays events coming we need to look at post NZTCC
We have 2 Rounds left in the NZ Series
8th July Wigram
15th July Timaru
Upcoming ATCC Rounds are all TCL Rounds
29th July Queensland
19th August Eastern Creek
9th September Sandown
12th August We have also planned for the Leman's Enduro
So The Dates we need to look at are the
22nd July
5th August
26th August
2nd September
16th September
23th September Was Thinking to do the TCL v V8 Supercars this Night
I floated the option a few weeks ago of the Historic mod and there was a good response.
From what I got from people they thought we had the wrong cars last time but seeing how many cars there were they wanted to give it a try again. The response I got from the people that tested it pretty much said the slower cars similar to the ones from last time were the best option. They all said the fast cars are harder to drive, they also said the middle class could possibly turn into a Porsche cup as they are so much quicker than anything else in the class. I think this is a good mod that we could make work for us but it is going to take some testing / time to work out cars that work for us all.
During the Discussion Someone suggest tracks we know and everyone must run one class per track. I thought this was a good idea make it pretty much a series to be test and tune a range of vehicles and find out what we can do with the mod in the future. We could run this two different ways, We could test and find the most suited to tracks and match them so we have same classes at each track or leave it open for people to choose their own class per track.
So we need some help with tracks we would like to use need 5 of them. Secondarily does the idea of one class per track work for everyone and if so user choose or Set classes to track.

Re: Historic Gt Legends Series
What cars did you run the first time?
We have run a few Historix leagues over the years.
We did run the 65’s first and that was a lot of fun. The Mustang was the dominant car here. (I used the faster Babina which was very competitive with the Cortina and Alfa)
The last one we did we used the 76 cars but we restricted what models were allowed to be used.
The following GTC-TC-76 cars may be used:
Escort
Capri 2600
BMW Alpina
Porsche 911 (any)
Porsche 906
Porsche 914
Pantera (non-factory)
Corvette 74 (350 small block)
Excluded cars are Capri 3100, BMW Schnitzer, factory Pantera and Corvette 69 (427 big block).
The car that was the most competitive was the Escort.
Now that version 1.9 is out, we could look at adding the Transam Alfa and the Renault V6?
Testing would definitely be needed.
Tracks:
You could use historic tracks like Goodwood, Crystal Palace or Snetterton 64 (Some are GPL conversions…), however there are sone good modern tracks you can use as well – Laguna Seca, Mid Ohio, Brands Hatch etc.

Thanks Growler I think we used the 60's cars not 100 percent I know there was Mustang Ford Sprint Cortina's
When you put that list I'm pretty sure the series I did run in the past had pretty similar car choice as your list and it worked quite well.
Maybe that is another option that list as a class and a second class 60's instead of picking multiple cars Let me kow guys

Re: Historic Gt Legends Series
my votes would be Lime Rock, Brands Hatch & Goodwood.
What about putting a few of the cars on a list and each week drivers need to choose a differnet car.. once you have used it, It's off the list...
In my testing that I did I had real trouble driving the higher HP cars, Cars I thought were quick and reasonable to drive were
Escort
Capri 2600
BMW Alpina
Porsche 911 (any)
Porsche 906
Porsche 914
Alfa
Renault
Mini (LOL)
Im sure there is a series in here somwhere, it's just a matter of putting together a concept, what ever it is a short series would be good to iron out any issues and maybe another longer one after.

With the tracks I was wondering if it would be better to pick ones we all know so we aren't learning tracks while evalutaing and learning the mod just a suggestion

Re: Historic Gt Legends Series
I think, in terms of enjoyment and race-ability, you'll probably find the TC-65 cars the best. Randoms will be able to join at late notice and not have big HP cars to deal with, and if you nudge someone during the race, the resulting slide won't turn your car into a scrap heap of parts.
While this isn't Racedepartment, nor is it GT-Legends, these cars are based on the GTL cars... And it was definately found that the TC-65 cars provided the best and closest racing. While the cream (as per usual) rises to the top, the mid field battles were often intense.
Anyway, my 2.5c, minus carbon tax, meaing it's actually 1.25c

The Mustang Notchback is the most competitive of the TC-65 cars so if the fast guys stay away from that you will have even racing.mozza wrote:And it was definately found that the TC-65 cars provided the best and closest racing. As long as I can run the Coppa Millie 1000cc Bambina I'll be happy!
