newbie strikes again - track idea

Post by RyanLee on 7/26/2013, 11:44 pm

Hey guys.

Sorry to bother you and im not sure if this has been brought up before or not… but,

I have had an idea for a track, which, over the years I have chopped and changed and altered here and there in my head. With rFactor it looks like I might be able to get that track not only out of my head, but into a form where I, and others can race on it. Its mainly a touring car track, not a vast open F1 track.

Starts off with a run down to a right hander which goes straight over a raised bridge (which in real world would have infield traffic go in and out of), a decent sized height on it and then down just as steep, at the bottom a quick 1, 2 of tight left handers almost into a hair pin and then down a quick short straight into a right hander curved hairpin which turns over on itself with a quick left then back along running parallel to the previous straight. A high speed left and right complex into a relatively long straight into a chicane like “S” bend finally curving around to a tight 120 degree right hand final turn onto the pit straight.

So, 11 turns, a bit over undulation, tight first sector to create over taking opportunities and a difficult hairpin onto straight that if you don’t get the exit right will hurt your top speed on the straight. In my head, it sounds like a brilliant track and I would love to use it.

This is where you guys come in.  Im no computer geek, and a lot of things do pass over my head. But is there a program good for the average joe looking to make a track? I have seen Bobs track builder and lots of good things about it, although, its $80 so I would hate to buy it then not understand half of it. I will apply myself to learn so if its not too difficult I’ll be able to pick it up. Just need some advice.

Cheers for the read and your time and any help you may be able to offer.
