1986 ETCC - Car Selection

The choice of cars available in the series is from the 1986 ETCC folder only. The cars are listed below, so please reply with your choice of car and i will add it to the first post. There are plenty of each car available, if however some of the models fill up and you are keen on driving one, just let me know and we can work something out (eg.. make use of the DTM86 Volvo's, BTCC86 Rovers or the MISC86 Holdens)

I have put names of GroupCAction, Growler and Shaynskyline next to cars they seem set on in one of the other threads, if you have changed your mind no problems just let me know

Well, I've done a shitload of back to back testing (that's a first for me) and I've decided on the little Merc. I'll struggle at Monza, Silverstone and Hockenheim, but it'll be a great little jigger at some of the smaller circuits. It's so nimble and responsive through the corners that it gives me heaps of confidence, something I never had in the VK or the Rover and the 635 just feels too slow.

I'll take the very attractive Monroe liviered #50 please. I'll never win a race, but I might get "best presented."

i'll try the merc in one of this weekends races as well dave and the beema in the other. im too am thinking the way of the merc with the tyre deg being pretty bad.

I had thought the same as the Rover just doesn't turn in as well as the Merc.
But will stick with the Rover for now...

Merc handles almost as well as the M3, but it has not much poke. So it will suffer on long straights like at Monza, where the Rover will probably be the king of them all. Vulva and 635csi are very good compromises, with decent power and tidy handling.

I'm going the Commode because it has nice, predictable handling - if a circuit wears out the front tyres, then you can use the throttle to steer with the rear, and if it wears out the rears... well pretty much farked, because it chews 'em.

thanks for the shotgun on the Volvo, Racer.

Im still deciding on wether or not to run the volvo/faster car or have a cruise around in a Merc or something.

Shame i missed the warmup race, i was driving back from Ballarat. Ive done the most laps practice in the Volvo so i guess ill probably stick with that.

I think if i try a little car, ill just get pissed off getting lapped all the time hehe.

Volvo seems like the best compromise out of the faster cars.

Ill lock somthing in before the weekend.

Sticking with the Volvo.

yeah, i'm bailing on my initial bmw choice and going a volvo, theres multiple skins for one of the etcc volvos so i'll go the #1 linstroem yasaki white with orange stripe one

That's the livery they ran at the 1986 Macau GP.

I'm in finally with the #49 Alpha. Someone's got to keep those Merc boys honest in Class 2. No use me trying to p..s with the big dogs up the front so I thought I may as well have a crack at the Class 2 section. Looking forward to the series start tomorrow.
