Re: 1972 Touring Car Championship - Starts 19th June
Woohoo!
I like the track choices except for Hockenheim. If you want a fast track from the 79 mod track pack then IMHO Österreichring or Zandvoort are more interesting.
Pau is a hidden gem, we used once at KSR for HistoriX and it was great fun. Graphics not great, but for a tight street circuit it has good flow down the hill, and a great T1-T2 combination, fast kink leading into a heavy braking zone.
Other 70s tracks to consider could be Monjuic or Brands GP version.

Tracks are still provisional at this point.
I hope a few will be on this Sunday for a test session.

I love Hockenheim, well the old one anyway, I've loved it since MicroProse GP.
I'll try to make it to the test on Sunday night, but this weekend is may last chance to get the 'rolla ready for the Sydney Retro Fest.

I've just tested all of the GTTC-B1 cars and didn't really warm to any of them, but i love the Alfa GTAm, any chance we could include that too?
I didn't realise the Alfa wasn't on the list until i tested on three tracks... D'oh!

I plan to be there.
There may be a couple of car mis-matches, would be good to have a variety of the cars used this Sunday for comparison.

Well I've done a shitload of testing and I've decided to go with the Escort. It's a twitchy little bugger, but it's quick.

Am away Sun so can't help test cars / tracks on-line then. But will probably be on-line Mon night (public holiday here in NZ) if you still want feedback Growler.

Re: 1972 Touring Car Championship - Starts 19th June
After initial testing from Vandem, the Escort seems to be too dominant.
After testing this Sunday I may remove it, or limit it to certain drivers that normally finish lower down the pack...
And Vandem...I should be around.

Re: 1972 Touring Car Championship - Starts 19th June
Cheers for those who turned up. It was valuable testing.
I may change the format to use any B1 class car as these seem to be more matched.
I'll do a little more testing but will confirm in the next day or so.

A3 cars unfortunately didn't match up so well with the B1 cars, so I think that's the way to go.

Good choice moving to only B1 cars. If only the Alfa had a couple more hp, or I was a slightly quicker driver ....

Re: 1972 Touring Car Championship - Starts 19th June
Sorry for missing testing. I was trying to sort out a blown pc after the storm blackout but to no avail.
I was actually going to mention that the difference between the 2 classes was huge but I see you figured that out.
I'll wait to see what everyone picks and go with the underdog.

Re: 1972 Touring Car Championship - Starts 19th June
Yeah...I did more testing yesterday and it makes sense to go with the B1 cars.
(I wanted to replicate 70's Touring cars but obviously it didn't work out).
I tried most of the cars at Hockenheim on the default setting and they are within 2 - 3 seconds of each other.
I think the Escort and the Capri will be tough to beat, so may introduce weights and/or reduce the number available.
Don't knock the Alfa just yet. Although down on power it handles exceptionally well...which could be a bonus at the smaller tighter tracks.
The black sheep may be the CSL BMW however...

For me the Alfa might be quicker than the Escort, because the time I save by staying on the track will easily exceed the time I lose on the straights...

Growler wrote:(I wanted to replicate 70's Touring cars but obviously it didn't work out).
I think your initial car choice was good, but the tyres on the A3 cars killed them by comparison, is all.
My only other thought was a B1/B2 split to have the Group 2 & 4 Capri's and BMW's running, but I like the open B1 class better. Probably the most varied class in the mod.
Weights might be something to think about, unless the bigger cars can run out of fuel in 25min?
Looking forward to the series!

No answer for the power of the batmobile though haha
Still struggling for some mid corner steering as well, but yeah it's going pretty good, your's looked a bit of a handful....
Saw the underside of fez's porker for quite some time as he decided to try and race on 2 wheels on one of the slow lefthanders, I will have to get a short vid of it
