Well what a waste of time that was.

Nice lead up & some good consistent lap times only to be smashed by Billy Bob re-entering the track without any view of what was coming behind him. Same thing happened in Practice the other day. I think Wobbly was taken off track also. Car was damaged so I pitted, then remembered afterwards that the fuel display is different to that of RACE07 in that it shows you how much you Leave the pits with, rather than what you are adding.

So trying to get the fuel sortde & ran off the road, into the wall - dead.

Well that was an interesting night.

Quali - didn't really get a clean lap... Constantly distracted by the constant messages coming up in the chat box... Hot tip. I don't care if your house is on fire, show some respect to your fellow competitors, who are trying to get the highest grid position possible.

Race - Steve started slowly, so I managed to squeeze between him and the pitwall, and almost got up the inside of wobbly into T1. Settled in behind him for the run through 2, down to T3, where I managed to get inside him but he turned in so I had to get out of it. Then we had I think Wally in the other Merc, Trippy in his Sierra and Berlsy in his commo all lining up to throw one past me down Hangar straight. Reckon Berls and Trippy managed to get past, but Wally couldn't. Then I think Wally and I made contact in a braking area - Sorry Wal, I may have braked a little early, but it was in response to the cars in front of me braking.

After that, I finally managed to get some heat into the tyres and got past Trippy and closed up to a close fighting Berlsy and Wobbly. Almost thought about trying to go 3 wide through the turn before the chicane, but backed out of it. Then when I started harassing Wobbly, Berlsy managed to get away a bit. Was all over Wobbly, we traded places on the straights and I think overall the Merc was a better cornering package so I finally managed to dust him off when he buggered up 2 corners in a row. Chased after Berlsy but couldn't really get that close, and then he pitted. I pitted the lap after him and came out just ahead, but he got past down Hangar straight... Again lol. We had a big battle again after that, me closing and getting the nose inside him on the run out of corners, only to have him drive past down any sort of straight. Then we came across Wally. Uh oh! BAM!

I think I got the better end of the deal there, cos I came out with a 9 second lead over Berlsy *** and managed to put more time on him before the end....

*** - Wally, I'll stick my hand up now and say that if you want to penalise me for the way I took the chicane after incident between you, berlsy and myself, I am more than willing to accept it. In hindsight, I should've tried to get straight back onto the track, but having seen a few incidents due to people doing that mid-chicane, I didnt...

Cheers.

Moz.

Sorry if I was the issue. I haven't changed anything on my end at all. Every now and again someone's car does show up as an "unknown" on a server but it never usually prevents them from racing, it usually sorts out once we move from session to session. Weird. Hopefully we can get it sorted out for bathurst next week Smile There's a slight chance I may not be around for it (my fav track!! nooo) so you may be ok if we're still having problems. To my knowledge though when joining a server, it isn't a mismatch with any player in the server, its a mismatch with what the server has installed and what is on your own pc so the reinstall should have fixed it Very Happy

The race went ok for me. Had a poor quali and only a mediocre setup as I've done a load of overtime this week at work Sad Start was really bad for me as I couldn't see the lights!!! Just went when I saw the guy in front go. Managed to grab a couple of positions through the first couple of corners. Gold stars to everyone because I didn't see any bad collisions at all through the first few bends Smile Got a good run off turn three only to be boxed in behind two battling cars and had to brake. Then missed a gear and was absolutely swamped Razz Oh well - dropped back to 9th with steve hassling me for a number of laps. Eventually ran wide and let him through. I was holding him up at any rate.
Pretty quite race after that, passing trippy who had gone off at the chicane, then the incident with billy happened in front, so caught up with wobbly and a couple of others. My front left was going into the red zone after trying to catch up to no avail, so ended up pitting at the same time as he was. Missed the pit limiter button on my way in so was very worried about a drive through, but it turned out ok. With fresher tyres I was able to catch wobbly back up and after a fierce battle with lots of great braking from the bm, I managed to pass. Then pulled away a bit only to make a mistake and have him hassling me for the last 3 laps Wink Had a nudge which spun me round, but he was a gentlemen and waited for me to recover. Gapped him a bit until the last chicane where he did a mega late brake and was right on my tail at the line. Great racing - thanks for the tough battle wobbly! Was nice to be racing someone and not in a large gap of empty road Smile

Well I came 14th in qual with a 1.37.50 which was my best lap time, so I was really pleased. Did a 1.36.84 during one of the many warm up session so was really looking forward to racing. Hadn't had much practice as work was being done on computer.

Start was ok, was having a bit of a battle with someone, I used to hang back but now will keep up and try and pass. Pitted at end of lap 7 and for once had a quick pit as no repairs. First for me. Was really enjoying the race and then nothing. Not sure if server or computer this week. Wally did a lot of work on fixing computer (3000 things he did, so he tells me) Laughing , but whatever it was, I was not happy. 2nd week in a row I was in front of Wally and then nothin, out of race. (Wally what are you doing to me?) Razz

Time for a new computer anyway. Not going to bother doing Bathurst as won't have new computer by then, so good luck guys. Will be watching over Wally's shoulder.

Hey All,

Sorry I couldn't race last night, a sick family here, the little one hardly slept all w/end so
neither did I!!! So stuffed by last night I collapsed (now I have the flu too!!!).
A little annoyed as I had done a fair bit of practice and the lap times were pretty consistent
on Hard tyres & full fuel, 1:34's and 1:35's, plus I just about had the rear end sorted Very Happy .
Sounds like it was an eventful evening. Hope to make it for the Bathurst race this w/end.

Cheers

Jumped on about 7 after downloading the track no practice again and had never been a fan of silverstone but this version was quite enjoyable. Got a good start but then got out
Of the way of the guys that had spent there time practicing. Made a couple of mistakes early and had a bit of race with shaz we went side by side through about 4 corners as I battled to get past. (shaz you are quick enough not to let people past easy anymore, if you had of made me work a little harder for it I probably would have struggled, you have great pace and hold good lines definitely have faith in your ability as you could definitely fight with more members than you think) I got into a rhythm about lap 10 started punching out 1m34 but to far behind at that stage to catch dano.

Pulled out last lap as wife had got home at about lap 20 and I really try to not be racing hen she gets home after working the whole weekend and not really seeing each other since Friday night.

qualified poorly only managed 10th, couldn't get close to the times i was doing in practise, had a big saturday night and was feeling like crap all sunday

got off to a pretty good start and was battling wal, mozza, trippy and wobbly for the first few laps. got passed them all and then ran wide and wobbly got passed again. had a good little battle with wobbly and mozza for the next few laps but managed to open up a little gap. got to about half race distance and mozza had caught me up again. mozza came out just in front of me after his pit stop. had an absolute cracker of a battle with mozz for the 6 or so laps until i came over the hill before the last chicane and wally was in the middle of the track. tried to miss him but clipped his back end and slammed the wall. car wouldn't drive straight after that so limped home to get 5th. shame about the crash, was looking forward to battling mozz to the flag, anyway still had a bloody ball last night, had some really good battles with mozz and wobbly, it's a pleasure to drive with guys that race hard and clean.

cheers berlsy

Had a great race last night, was able to keep Webber and GrpC in sight for most of the race.

I qualified in 4th which was basically where i expected (although would have been 5th without Dan's unfortunate problems), but my time was abit off what i did in final practice.

I got a slow start and went side by side with Wobbly through the first corner but managed to get away and settle into 4th on the run to turn 3 at Beckets

I chased Billybob for a few laps and snuck under him when he ran wide at Stowe, and then just 2secs ahead were GrpC and Webber having a ding dong battle. I had front row seats and could justabout keep their pace while they battled, but by the time the pitstops came about i was about 5secs adrift.

I gambled on just taking fuel at the stop and no tyres, which vaulted me to second after Webber's long stop, but GrpC seemed to have the same idea as me. Webber was 15 odd seconds behind with less than 10 laps to go, but stormed home on his fresher tyres and got me with 1 lap to go. A really great drive by him there, and a top drive by GroupC too who wound up about 8secs infront of me.

Hopefully i get the Supra cracking like that again at Bathurst Smile

well, i cant be bothered going through the replay for a play by play,. so this'l be quick.

i qualified about 12th i think with a high 1:34?

did a mark webber off the start and lost a few places. ended up second last for while.

i got past about 4 or 5 cars fairly quickly, which had me in 12th or 11th i think.

Then i caught up to Dano in the Sierra, i was chasing him for aaaaages, closing in and then dropping off over and over again, but in general, catching him.

then he span off unfortunately which allowed me past. bl guy, great chase with you.

by this time a couple of ppl had spins or got dropped from the race. So when i pitted i was in 9th or 10th.

another driver dropped out , and i passed someone close to the end which put me in 8th spot.

Overall very happy to finish in 8th place, achieving a very even and measured race. No incidents, no spins, i didnt bump anyone, and my pit stop went as planned.

I woulda like to have gained more spots by passing instead of taking up dropped positions, but eh, ill take em where i can get em. I feel for the ppl that lost connection. such bad luck.

Oh, just wanna say thanks to Mozza, Wobbly, Dan and Billy. They gave me some great advice during practice and helped me to make gains of about 6 seconds a lap.
With out them, i dont think i woulda hit my best time of 1:33.2, infact i know i wouldnt have. Not happy i didnt make it to 1:32s, but great nonetheless.

If you are struggling btw, try using the default setup on soft tyres, it is amazing how fast you can go without changing anything and correct racing lines and braking spots.

Awesome Race.

See ya in the Bathurst Prac.

You did very well Shayn

An incident free race is the main thing, and shows how staying out of trouble and being consistent can get you a great top 10 finish. The speed will come with time and practice, but be proud of your effort, great job Smile

Coming into Silverstone I was worried this was gonna be a Commodore track. But with a few laps during the week I came up with a good race package that was consistent on it's tyres.

Quali went well, front row with Webber, set a PB which I was happy with.

Race: Got a great start and just outdragged Webber into turn 1... From there it was an epic battle between me n Web for about the 1st 10laps... I'll have to watch the replay, I reckon we must of swapped places 10times!! The Sierra was having no tyre issues what so ever, so I just refilled it and got back out in the lead. Looked like Webber had a longer than usual stop so with the gap I had I backed off alittle to conserve the tyres and hold out for a victory which was one of the most enjoyable I've had.

Webber that was awesome mate, we gave each other room In the battle and it was epic... I had a ear to ear grin throughout out battle!!

Special shout out to Racer... Mate you've got that Supra sussed now, you kept the pressure up all race, no doubt you'll be on the pace around the Mountain this weekend!!

Yep battle was fantastic, I was really loving it, and the cars were very well matched on this track, so we weren't having to go super defensive. Recipe for awesomeness and a well deserved win on your part.

i did post an apology to steve and wobbly as soon as i dropped out last night... but i cant see it here now...
usually when my ip drops out it just goes.... everyone dissapears and im the only one out there.. last night was different than the norm... i must have had a bitrate of about 5kb sec before it finally went.

The incident was clearly my fault but unfortunately a little beyond my control at the time.

So again to both steve and wobbly... sincerest apologies.. id be pissed if i was you too.

hey bob keep ur points dude no worries here mate Smile re incident i did think wtf why the hell come straight back on like that lol but hey we've all had sort of issue in the past were ur no longer in the game so to speak, so no appology needed mate you were just a passenger by the sound of it

re my race had moments of fun throughout but was struggling a lot here, qualy P5 or 6 cant remember but did a mid 31 and thought had the honour of class 2 pole only to see steve beat it by a tenth or so on last lap of quali Evil or Very Mad

got a good start and steve got his usual shocker....played with some group 1 cars for a while until i got eaten up then had great battle with bersely until he got into his rhythm and pulled a gap, and a terrible dice with mozza i.e terrible cos the bugger was all over me like a bad suit then i kinda started falling to pieces a bit a made a few mistakes, steve came past then i tried hard to get my rhythm back which i did sitting on steves tail, next thing billys on the track steve hits him i hit steve and im upside down spinning on my roof, oppps

did pits but didnt elect to repair car even tho it was damaged as i assumed it would cost me more time than the bad handling would Smile

had great race to the flag with dave who was driving the wheels off the volvo but must appologise for the shunt at the hairpin.....i locked up just for a smidgen, which was enough to turn u round sorry dude Sad

so ended up p7 i think p2 in class,

oh just a reminder to steve u cant do bathhurst and neither can i as we have the final SJ championship round steve and i have to take as many points as we can to wrap up the teams championship Razz Razz
