Need help pls. Re-installing rFactor.

Post by shaynskyline on 8/27/2011, 5:29 pm

A mod i downloaded stuffed up my rFactor folder, and it deleted some file required to run the game. So i uninstalled everything and re-installed.

Now when i start it up it wont let me change the Graphics resolution. I go into rFconfig utility and can change it to what ever i want, but in the game, it stays on 800x600.

Also, when i re-installed, it didnt ask me to activate again, does that mean its not gonna work properly now?

How do i make it ask for activation number?

if nothing works do a system restore back to before the time you installed that mod

yer yur right moo, i installed TCL and a couple tracks and everything is working.
i guess its just when you reformat or something you have to re-activate.

wally, my rFactor folder was a mess so i just deleted the whole thing.

still having a look around for a way to make it change. prolly something stoopid.

Its ok, every one relax, i figured it out.

Had to set the ConfigUtil to Administrator permissions.

Soon as i did that it changed the resolutions first time.

Stoopid Windows7. My account is administrator, but i still have to run programs as administrator. GG.

Shayn, do you install all your mods into the original rfactor folder, or create rfactor-lite installs of each mod?

I've found a seperate install for each mod keeps everything clean & un-infected, and if there is a problem with a certain mod, you only have to delete the one mod, rather than the whole rfactor game.

Have to agree with racer69 on this one, I usually have no more than 2 mods per install and all my installs get the tracks from a central folder (which i run on another hard drive).
For me it runs each mod better................

You open the .config file in your rfactor folder and edit the line for the track directory..

TracksDir=folder where your tracks are

I have a folder that has my rfactor.exe, my config file, plug-ins and my user data folder (which i keep updated) and then when I do a new lite install, I drop all this into the folder after the install is done, then all my settings are the same in all installs....

Hope that made sense! scratch

Btw , thanks for this info guys.

I've now got all my mods set up separately in lite installs and its much better.

Its a lot better this way, and the remote track folder makes it easier to install new tracks.

Thanks.
