Suggestion for enduros
after doing a few 1 hour races ive come to realise that a 2 hour race may be a little bit much for a single stint, due to drop outs etc.
possibly have 2 1 hour races with a 10 min break?

Re: Suggestion for enduros
i totally agree.
due too it being a sunday night should we actually run it over 2 weekends starting at same grid positions as per the end of the first race.
anyone who had built a lead in the first half should class it as a safety car.... maybe a special password for the finishers of race 1 to enter race 2???
thoughts??????????

Re: Suggestion for enduros
Splitting the race up over two weeks seems like a great idea, as long as the people who have built up a lead over the pack dont mind being pulled back in to start over again.
Personally the 2 hours with a break halfway wouldnt bother me.
One long race would be unfair for people with connection issues to miss out after 20 mins or so.
If it was run over two weeks, points would only be awarded once after the second race yes?
I'd say the best way is to run it over two weeks. Some people might not have 3 hrs free on a Sunday night.
I'll go along with whatever is decided. So yeah.

Re: Suggestion for enduros
I was keen on the challenge of 2 hours racing, but you're right, a drop out would be devastating.
2x 1 hours with 5 minutes' break is my vote.

Re: Suggestion for enduros
As with Webber and Shano, i was quite looking forward to a straight 2hr race, would have been interesting to see how a race that long played out.
2 one-hour races on the 1 night is i think the best way of the choices given.
Perhaps start the second 1-hour race as a single file rolling start (ie...when it goes green the first lap is treated as a safety car lap with the leader pacing it, then at the end of lap 1 the racing starts). That would still make it feel abit like the 1 race continuing, and also it wouldn't really be fair if the leader had a big lead at the end of 1 hour, only to possibly get bogged down into the pack and caught up in an incident with another start.
If your 1 lap down after the first 1hr, would you start the second race a lap down?

Re: Suggestion for enduros
I think the Rolling start second race would be great server would have to go down in between races to re config for rolling start. This would take a few minutes and then config the grid so you would need to take into account that Wally would be working flat out inbetween to get it ready to go again so you would probably need you break to be 15 mins so Wally can have a quick break as well.
In The past with Rolling starts have had some issues with unless the cars were positioned correctly and everyone held correct speed it just kept aborting. We tried once NZV8 at Pukehoke and it took five laps to go green. As I said would be great but would definately need people on the server in the lead up to test it with this mod.

Re: Suggestion for enduros
I don't mind a single race actually.
It is an endurance after all. 2x1hr isn't really endurance anymore.
5pm start is fine with with me.
The only thing is dropouts, the length of the race shouldn't be an issue
Concentration/effort wise, that's the point of it.
Getting to the end and having only 8 or so drivers finishing would be dissappointing.
So that's a tick for a split race.

how about, say more than 3 or 2 people drop out we can it at the 1 hour and redo? because i wouldnt mind a full 2 hour event, just everytime someone drops out its disappointing, especially when you know their pain!

Re: Suggestion for enduros
I can definatly start at 5pm, so there's another
Any chance of a Top 10 shootout too?
I assume we'll be keeping the Pepsi 250 at 75mins and the Sandown 500 at 90 mins as planned?
My idea was that we would effectively control the rolling start ourselves. Keep it at a standing start as far as the server is concerned, and we get put on the grid for a standing start, but when the lights go out for the race start, instead of bolting off the line, we treat lap 1 as the safety car lap, and then at the end of it racing starts when you cross the line to begin lap 2. The leader could act as the safety car for that first lap?

Re: Suggestion for enduros
I can finish work earlier on the Sunday in question and start at 5pm.
I don't know if I will last for 2 hours, not my favourite track (no need to gasp, we don't all have to like it) lol, and back pain might make be pull out, but willing to give it a go.

Re: Suggestion for enduros
Now, this is the kind of dedication we like to see.
Leaving work early, for an online car race. Brilliant.
Just a quetion though, when exactly is the Bathurst race?
Is it on in the order it appears on the poster with all the tracks?
If so, then its miles away lol, i was thinking it was in a couple weeks or something.
And is there gonna be a race (real) Bathurst weekend? Or a mid series break?

Re: Suggestion for enduros
If we go every week, Bathurst will be Sunday Movember 13
Wally however in the chat box last Sunday alluded to having October 9th off, as its the day of the Supercheap Auto 1000, which means that Bathurst would then be week later on November 20
Either date is great for me

Yes, we are having the real Bathurst day off so the race will be on the 20th November. Wally doesn't want to leave any changes to the last moment.

Re: Suggestion for enduros
Another idea to perhaps consider would be, for the last 3 enduro rounds, to increase the fuel use to x3 (i know i was the one pushing to lower it to x2 before the start of the season, but i was mainly thinking of the 60min sprints)
You would have to stop more times, which would give it a more 'endurancy' feel, and particularly for Oran Park & Sandown when we race there the 2nd time, it would make the strategies for those two races alot different to the 60min races there at x2 fuel?

I'm keen for that Racer, more pitstops would DEFINITELY change the game, and maybe give more flexibility to the smaller cars

How do you guys sit in one place for an hour, staring at a screen without going for a walk or a pee? Is it physically/medically possible?

I fractured my coccyx years ago in a big crash at Morgan Park and now i find it had to sit for a long time. I really struggle with the 1 hour races. I stand up for the pitstop!
