Chrome made easy
Happy to share the knowledge here guys.
Unfortunately my pics are a little large for your forums, but hopefully you will get the idea
Remember Chrome will work with any base colour in the skin, but works best with Black.
It really doesn't have to be that hard eh.
Heres the basic layer look or RGB
Note all that I want to be Chrome is BLACK
It is hard to see there but here's a screenie of the ALPHA Channel in the Channels tab.
Everything that is meant to be CHROME is WHITE in this channel.
Select all the black parts in your skin you want to be chrome by using the Magic Wand tool and holding down SHIFT to keep selecting.
When you are happy with what you have selected move to the channels tab and HIGHLIGHT only the ALPHA Channel at the bottom, the other eyes will go off and the Alpha Channel is now active.
What you have selected should still be there, I just used a large white paintbrush to whiten those areas.
I may have gone a little overboard here but here's what I got.
Geeeez it's hard to stop now..

Re: Chrome made easy
Excellent work guys!!!!!!
BENNY'S GOT IT!!!!! Good Job mate, Awesome Brocky Special
If anyone needs help with windows I can either help you with a walk through in TS or if ya wanna tell me what you want I can make them for you.
Or send me your PSD files and its all about adding your additions to the Alpha layer then copying and adding all to the Alpha1 Channel in the Channels TAB.
There is a Pictorial guide also at our forums, with the full size images showing the layers.
Basically.
All that you add to your windows, needs to be added to the Alpha LAYER (at the top) and turned white!!
then SELECT ALL with the original alpha layer ticked in. (Everything looks weird here)
Then COPY MERGED all of that and PASTE to the ALPHA1 Layer in the CHANNELS TAB!
Then a SAVE AS DDS.
Let me know guys.
happy to help.
KIWI.
If you dont want your decals to have a chrome effect they need to be that grey colour in the Channels tab ALPHA1 layer
I know it gets confusing but really simple once you get ya head around it.
Your LIFT Decal looks like it has a reflective effect goin on.
If you select all of the Lift decal then go into the Channels tab, Select the ALPHA1 and make it grey it will look less reflective.
MIDNIGHT BLUE CHROME LOOKS COOL TOO. As opposed to Black, Black makes the most reflective Chrome.
RED Looks Pinkish
A bit pissed now so I hope I'm makin sense.
Cheers Rivals.

Re: Chrome made easy
Hey guys, If ya wanna keep the stickers solid and the whole car chrome , best to make all your stickers one file , Select your 1st sticker then hold shift select last one and make it a new smart object. Now use the magic wand tool to select all the stickers , even though they are grouped as a smart object you still have to select one at a time, hold the shift key for multiple selection's . Once done right click and select inverse ,now go to the Alpha channel and paint the car panels white the stickers should stay grey and that should be it
