Re: Favourite era car?
Tough one I was born mid way though the australian group A era and started watching right at the end. When I first started watching I was a fan of Gibson Motorsport's GTR Skyline and followed them through to Holden, so I became a Holden man. More recently I watched the 86 ETCC highlights and admired the efforts of Allan Grice and Les Small so that VK commodore would have to be one of my favourites.

Re: Favourite era car?
My earliest memories of life and motorsport are of the 1988 ATCC, and from 5 i was a dedicated Dick Johnson & Ford fan through until today, with the Ford Sierra always being my favourite car (to the extent i almost, almost, got a chance to buy a Merkur a few years back....)
Allan Grice though i was fond of and the various Roadways Commodore's that Les Small produced...to the extent that i cheered Gricey home in 1990 ahead of the Allam/Radisich Sierra (but i keep that one quiet )

Re: Favourite era car?
My earliest motorsport memory is Bathurst '77 & the Moffat 1-2, even though I was a Brock fan, which made me become a Holden fan.
My all-time favourite motorsport is Group A Touring Car racing. Most of the world had the same rules, where you could buy something very similar to what you watched on Sunday and drive it to work on Monday. Australia's best took on the world's best and did us proud!
I bought rFactor, just for TCL. My favourite Aussie car, in fact my all time favourite race car is the 1990 Bathurst winning HRT VL #16. Nobody rated Percy/Grice a chance and they outran/outlasted them all!

Re: Favourite era car?
Well, i wasn't really old enough to take much notice of car racing in the late 80 early 90s. So i cant say that i saw much of the R31 going around in those days.
But R31 skylines were the first car that ever caught my eye, surfing the web or seeing them on the street when i began taking notice of cars. I always wanted to have one. And now i have owned four of them.
So the ones i like watching the most on youtube etc and old footage, are the R31 skylines. And definitely my favourite car to drive on rFactor.
Like David said, TCL was the reason i downloaded rFactor. I was playing LiveForSpeed at the time and i saw a youtube video of an r31 in a computer game, so i had to have it.

Bit like shayn, I was a bit young, only really remembering 1992 bathurst.... But dad is a Nissan fan so I've pretty much grown up on a diet of group a Nissans... Guess that would make my fav the r31 until godzilla is out....
Although I do prefer to drive any of the little cars more....

Re: Favourite era car?
Very hard for me to nail down a car... For me its the whole Group C era... i was born in 1980, towards the end of the Group C era but i have alot of memories of that time. Mostly through lots of photos of myself & my brother standing or sitting in the cars of that time. My Dad was very close mates with Frank Gardner so we always got great tickets through Frank.
But i guess i hold the Freeport Sierra close to my heart now. That car was originally put together in my Dads Workshop in Sydney before the car moved off to Qld. The car was just a bare shell but one of the first things that the mechanics put in the car was the suspension, the race seat & the steering wheel!! I was only 7 years old at this stage and i used to sit in the drivers seat, steering from left to right and make car noises thinking i was a racing car driver. Dad has told me countless times that Frank said to him, if we can get this kid behind the wheel at Bathurst in October we'll be in with a good chance come 5pm Sunday...
I know what happened at Bathurst 88 like i'm sure alot of you do to.... :-)
Thankfully Franks legacy lives on today, a true character... possibly one of the last few in the sport. Sorry for rambling on but i could talk about Group C & A cars till the cows come home.
Special mention has to go to any Group C Commodores and also Bob Morris' WB1 Mazda that ran in Bathurst 1984
Getting back to the question from Wal... i'd have to say the car that caught my eye was Dick Johnsons Mustang.... Back when i was a youngin, green was my fav colour... actually still is hahaha So naturally i leaned towards Dick Johnson.

Has to be the best sound ever produced, no, sung by a touring car.
best car in rfactor? Have to agree with Dave, that 1990 #16 was a miracle driven superbly.

Would you accept WTCC cars as well? In which case my all time favourite is the #5 Rothmans VL...

Re: Favourite era car?
Love to be able to run this with ya's, it's a great idea Wally, but I won't be home over Easter.
If I was gonna run, I'd probably run one of the JPS M3's, just to add a different car into the mix.
Have fun though!

Re: Favourite era car?
schedule up on special events.
I understand most will be busy over easter but it's probably the only time we will be able to run a full schedule like this, should be fun.
If you'se are a bit busy then maybe pick one of the prac sessions and of course the qualifying and race.
To make it as realistic as possible server will be switched off apart from scheduled times.
