Round 8 Pre Watkins Glen Long 24th March 2013

After racing on this track with the NAGT's tonight i can see why many people love it.
Unfortunately putting in the required practice for this week will be very difficult for me.
Hope the Nissan crew can put on a good show, Holden are running away with the constructors championship.

Just did a brief test, car set-up feels good, balanced and controllable, did a 2:07. I like the track! A driver's circuit.

need to push those sierra pedals harder dave!

Sad to miss this one. I just got home from Morgan Park and the one race was three laps old.

Most of the trip was done in very heavy rain; if the weather had been fine, I would have made it home with plenty of time to spare.

Too busy watching the F1... great, interesting race... looking forward to reading reports from Watkins Glen!

Not many people turned up due to the Formula 1 being on at the same time. Because of this the laps were reduced to 25.
This track suited the Rover due to the long straights and sweeping curves but was hard on front tyres.
The pack stayed together for the first 3 – 4 laps, but CortyGT, FCDean and Racer69 started pulling away.
AusChris stayed with me in the Merc for a few laps. It was close but I managed to keep him behind me until he spun. After a few more laps racer69 had caught me after spinning earlier on.
It was a good few laps of intense racing as racer69 passed me, I took the place back etc, with close side by side racing. It was good fun until racer69 spun again (Lucky the Rover leaks oil!).
That put me into second as Corty had pitted for tyres. Corty was on the charge once he had fresh tires and managed to pass everyone to take the lead again.
Towards the end my fronts were going off and I was losing 4 seconds a lap. I did consider pitting for tires but Racer69 was gaining on me by 2 seconds a lap.
I decided to persevere with the worn tyres (As racer69 would have passed me if I pitted) and finished 3rd.
It was a good night’s racing.
