NAGT Round 1 - Laguna Seca 26th Feb

First race of the league!

Qualifying
Qual starts at 8.00pm TTR time.
This will be a 10 minute session. You are allowed 4 laps in total. 1 out lap, 2 hot laps and 1 warm down lap only.
If everyone does their two qual laps within the 10 minutes we will roll to warm-up earlier.

First race
The first race is 15 minutes long

Second Race
Grid made up of the finish positions of race 1
30 minutes long

should just make it a 1 x 1hr race! way better over longer distance, more strategy involved

Not everyone is registered but that's nothing new.

Note the points standings below are not sorted correctly. I'll fix that later.

What a great night’s racing! It was good to see a few new names too.
I struggled to get a decent setup for the Corvette. It wasn’t until I watched a replay of Koil in the Skyline (He was using my Corvette setup!!) that I noticed the rear end pushing through corners and causing understeer. This told me I had too much grip in the rear end so I reduced the slow bump?, reduced the power and coast settings in the diff, and softened the front roll bar 1 click. This transformed the car and I could at least do consistently good laps.

Race 1
I had a good start and got behind the top group. I had a good dice with Billy Bob but managed to pass him on the long straight.
Then I chased down Sulley and ChrisRX who were battling each other. I couldn’t get close enough to pass and finished behind Sulley.

Race 2
I had another good start and was high up in the pack. I got tapped by Billy Bob which put me last once I got going. (Thanks to Billy Bob for waiting for me – I did say to carry on but you may not have heard me).
Managed to drive through the pack to get up to Sulley again. I did catch him but had a lockup at the corkscrew which made me lose time. I just cruised on home after that.

was some good racing in both races, rx8 was handling sweet on cold tyres but as soon as some heat got in them they started sliding alot, was better in second stint with heavier fuel load but heated them early trying to keep sulley behind. had to go easy for a few laps to let them cool a bit and then i could push a bit harder and managed to close the gap but not enough time left. longer distances are a must so theres pit stops and strategy that can possibly alter the racing.

Skipping away in sector one, abusing the tyres was good for awhile but boy did you pay for it later on.

Race1 great scrap with Chris, and u did only move once over on me hehe..no worries

Race2 I was just happy my tyres held together in race 2, was nerve-racking to say the least watching the gap to Chris close as I tried to ease up on the tyres but keep the laptimes reasonable.
