H & TCL League Round 3 - Kyalami 1970 (13th July)
Kyalami 1970
The original, sweeping circuit was in use from 1961 until political sanctions eliminated the Grand Prix after the 1985 race.[1] When the circuit was rebuilt in the early 1990s as part of a commercial development, Leeukop Bend, the Kink, Pit lane and start finish straight, Crowthorne Corner, Barbeque Bend were all eliminated. Jukskei Sweep was heavily modified to create the entrance into the bend before the then newly built Pit lane and start finish straight. The remaining part of the old almost historical fast circuit, modified to a lesser degree were Sunset Bend, Clubhouse Bend and the Esses still incorporated into the current configuration, with the result that the circuit became a narrow, twisty ribbon rather than one of the fastest circuits on the calendar. Formula One abandoned the rebuilt circuit in 1993 after just two races and a bankruptcy on the part of the promoter. Kyalami was changed again with the building of the current Pit lane and start finish straight and later again changes were made, most recently the addition of the chicane which in turn was removed again for the 2009 World Superbike race.[2] Kyalami is currently under new management and 2008 saw 50th Anniversary of the 9 hour revival being held at Kyalami with golden oldies like David Piper and others.[3] On 6 June 2014, it was announced that Kyalami will be auctioned off on 24 July without reserve.[4

Well pretty good, close pace from everyone tonight which made some great close racing.
Think I qualified about 5th ?
First race got a great start, but the Dino seemed to struggle on pace in low speed stuff, especially coming out of the corners.
Got a PB on the last lap and finished 6th.
Race 2, again great start but I think I put way to much fuel in this race and felt like a sitting duck.
About half way through the race the car felt very taily lost a few spots because of it.
The Escorts seemed to getting faster as the night went on and the Dino couldnt keep up with the Capri's & A310's.
Ended up 8th.
Over all had heaps of fun and had great battles with a few of you

Great racing last night, I had minimal practice really with this mod so generally pretty happy with how I went.
I spent a while trying to make the car comfortable to drive and sacrificed a bit of speed, but slowly started to sharpen it up once I knew I could keep it on the road. I had a pretty weird setup but it sort of worked OK.
Got a 29.3 out of it in Qual which was OK, put me back in 7th, but the times were pretty close. Race 11, was running behind Berlsy fairly comfortably, then IN2-CMPUNK had a spin in front of me and I couldn't avoid, so droppped me back a bit. Had a ripper dice with Growler towards the end of R1, made for a fantastic replay! Sorry for pushing you off the road on the exit from the left hander, forgot my car was LHD!
R2 was heaps of fun, I started throwing the car around a bit more and had some great battles with Billy Bob, Corty & Riven throughout the 21 laps. It was probably one of my best races as it was generally mistake free and I kept it on the road for the most part. Pretty happy to be only 26 seconds behind after 30 mins of racing. Looking forward to next week!

Only my second race night but I had a ball. Still getting a feel for things and big thanks to CD with help with the setup, mine was still a bit twitchy in the back so made life a bit easier. Still trying to stay out of the way a bit till i pick up the pace but looking forward to improving and getting in there to have a good go with everybody. Awesome fun!

got off to some killer starts but thats where it ended, the capris were way to quick over the longer races getting quicker as time went on, the other a310 was killer around here and tried to let him past to chase the capris and couldnt stick with it. taken out by a spinning beema at the end didnt help which let berlsy through to 4th grrrrrrrrrrrrr.
