You'll spend the entire season underneath it, getting maybe 5 laps in before it craps itself again anyway Shayne...

Busting out the big guns Wally. first Brocky, now Moffat.
both from the atcc 1988. maybe a full series of atcc 1988 is on order. the DJR rs500s dominated that year if in not mistaken, maybe they can do it again????
edit. ops misses skaify up top

PS...is the fact the latest pic is of the Moffat/Hansford Sierra from the 1988 Sandown 500 a clue, perhaps as to tracks or format?

if we do run a class with the 373kw rs500s... can we ban them. the current 87 sierras are damn fast and the commos can jsut match the pace, but with an extra 100kw i think it will be a tad unfair.

The '88 ATCC & Bathurst, which the next season is based on, also allows the R31 Skylines and TWR Commodore's, which are all also much faster than the current RS Cosworth Sierra's & HDT Commodore's etc.. we are racing in the '87 WTCC. I don't think it'd be too unfair.
There are enough Sierra's to choose from in the '88 set that its not as if someone will miss out if they want to race one, which i think makes it fair for everyone. Also there are no lower powered RS Cosworth Sierra's in any of the seasons after 1987.
Remember they are 1hr races next season too, and the RS500 Sierra is much harder on its tyres than the others (has a tonne of understeer), a well driven Skyline or Commodore will match a Sierra over a race distance anyway. The real darkhorses over the longer race formats next season will be the M3's, especially at Lakside, Amaroo and Winton (if we use the original club circuit)
Whatever the rules though you will see me on the grid

Re: Clues for season following wtcc87
These are the cars of the era in which we love and enjoy on sunday nights.
I won't be picking a sierra, i don't care if a sierra is faster, I am in it for the drive and the battles.
In order to run this series as authentic as possible we will need to keep it to original. So no we wont be capping power on the sierra or twr commodore.
I've seen the M3 kick Godzilla's butt at certain circuits and the same will happen in our series.
with one hour races, skill, consistancy and how you manage tyres will be what will win this championship..
also with oran park being a 75 minute race, sandown a 90 minute race and a 2 hour Bathurst driving skill will more than make up for cars that are faster qualifying speed.
We will be following the 1988 regular series and most of the real races that year ended up being 1 hour events..
This series therefore will be the closest to the real thing we have ever done... it should be awesome and I am really looking foward to it even though we still have 4 rounds + a fun event weekend or 2 before we start.

My real life race car is in the '88 ATCC & '88 Bathurst car sets, so i fell compelled to choose it, even though i'll be last all the time.
Hang on, i'm already last all the time........

Here here Wally. Loving the sound of next season (well, honestly every Sunday night at the moment)
The Sierra's are quickest, but they won't win every race, and they really are difficult beasts to drive. The Skylines and TWR Commodores will more than be a match for them, as will the BMW M3s over a race.
Will we continue with the x3 fuel and x3 tyres?

6 speed gearbox? (well in real life the 6sp for the M3 wasn't homologated till '88)
The tracks in general will suit the M3s more next season because Australia has alot more tighter tracks in Australia compared to the WTCC schedule which consisted mainly of GP tracks more suited to horsepower.
Tracks like Amaroo, Winton club & Lakeside suit the car perfectly. Wally himself was dynamite around Lakeside in a JPS M3 in our last season, as was GrpC in another M3 at Amaroo, clean-sweeping the respective events.

Re: Clues for season following wtcc87
gee, i gotta do some testing.
if the R31 is too much to handle, or a real tyre killer, then ill stick with the m3. or maybe even give the merc a go.
i tried the merc at Silverstone and it was just as nimble as the M3 and felt a little more stable straight away.
and its definitely fast enough.
id really love to drive the R31 though. have to see what its like with assists off for the first time lol.

Re: Clues for season following wtcc87
im going to go the skyline. regardless if its fast or not. atm i dont like being in the sierra, its too fast for anyone who isnt using a commo or sierra, although ive had some good runs with racer and wobblyone. but overall it makes it boring. id rather be back in the pack having to fight for a podium.
