^ in relation to next sunday night, can we do a wet race at sugo or something!? would be awsome!!!!

anyway, Quali was great with a new pb of 1 33.600 only +0.126 from webber placing me in 2nd.

Race 1 : well had a sloppy start and was starting to claw my way back through the field...... but then mum rang the door and i had to park my car (which happened to getstuck in its spot) so race 1 was no more

Race 2 : had a ok start. not knowing when to actually go , which i think everyone else had the same problem. let the field go nuts into t 1 and kept a steady distance behind bersly trippy etc. made a move on bersly and trippy but on the following corner got taken out by trippy, then spun again by tim backspin.... anyway in almost dead last i started the epic climb and slowly caught the pack again.

caught up to wally and the class 2 blokes in a few laps and made short work of them on the straight makign up 4 spots in the space of 2 corners. same deal with the next group, although moving into 5th was made easy when shano took out 6th and himself.

i had to push a bit to get past wobbly and eventually did on the outside of the last chicane under brakes!

i was then gaining on racer groupc and webber by about .500 a lap racer and webber pitted leaving me 6 sec behind groupc. he to pitted a lap before i did lettign me lead for a lap.

i came out of the pits in 2nd just infront of groupc and started catching webber, till i dropped a wheel off the track and spun.

almost did the same thing last lap last corner too. was a great race

Gratz to webber and groupc and thanks wally for a great season

Two good races tonight,

I had a great qualifying run, managing to put the Bastos Supra into 4th on the grid.

At the start of race 1 i got abit excited into turn 1, giving GrpC a nudge but thankfully he kept going and i fell off. I started working my way up from the back, and was on billybob's tail into turn 1 when i locked me rears and nudged him... we both lost a few spots but carried on... with a few DNF's & people running off, i settled in behind billy and before i knew it i was in 7th, which i held to the end.

In race 2, me and Mozza got good starts from the front row, and got abit of a break over Shano in third, which allowed me to tuck in behind Moz for the lap and make my move on the main straight at the start of lap 2. From there i tried to build abit of a lead, Webber and GrpC were slowly reeling me in, but not by alot really.... but i left my braking a touch too late at turn 1 and slid off the track, rejoining just behind GrpC in third. I tailed him for a few laps before i made my stop at half distance, taking on fuel and tyres..... I'm assuming neither Webber, GrpC or Dan did as i was miles behind all of them when they'd completed their stops circa-lap 15/16, so i just stroked it home in 4th.

A race that summed up my season.

Given i missed rounds 2 & 3 when i was at Indy, a top 5 in the championship was a good result for me, and i don't think i'd have troubled the leaders even if i had done all the rounds, so overall i'm quite happy with my finishing position in the Supra.

Roll on the next two weeks with the Commodore Cup 'mini-series', then onto the 1988 ATCC after that Very Happy

Well done Webber on his championship win, and GrpC on leading for the most of the season and being everybit as quick

Well done to Wally on winning the Class 2 title, and for his fantastic 4th in race 1 tonight on what is a power circuit

Many thanks to Wally for running the series as well, and also to Benny for his hard work, especially during the testing times around Bathurst.

Epic racing tonight. Who would've though such a big power track would have seen the Group 2'ers mixing it up with the 1's?

Anyway, during the week, Wobbly was getting mouthy, telling me about this fantastic 34.7 he punched in praccy, blah blah. Had me worried a bit, but I fired back with a "Merc is crap, I cant get under 36 here"... Even went as far as doing it on a praccy session with him one night, at which point he started telling me how slow the Merc looked... Except in a straight line... Silly, silly Wobbly LOL.

So anyway.... Eventually he figured it out that I was able to run his race pace, and as per usual, the Merc had that little bit extra to give down the straight... Anything from between 3-5kph un-assisted, or, up to 10kph in the draft Shocked !!!!

Anyway. Quali. Wasn't expecting to beat Wobbly. I'm not a qualifying person. Can't do it, never been able to. Ever.
Anyway, managed a 34.9, which made me happy. At least it was a 34. Wobbly was .7 up on himself and ran out of fuel just as he started going over the grid spots, so it amounted to nothing. Then quali finished, and neither of us could go back out. Tick 1 box for Quali..

Race 1.
Epic. Epic race. Nothing more. Nothing less. Although it resulted in possibly Wobbly and mine worst finishing positions, it was a massive race.
I guess, I should say, the reason we were so hell bent on beating each other, we were racing for 3rd in group 2. I was 12 points up coming into this round..

Started well. Probably the best of the top guys, again almost ran into the back of racer in his Supra, but as per usual the faster cars got away a bit down to T1. Think I tapped Dan, but when Racer went sliding past, he straightened you up.... Then Wobbly got past us both, with his usual aggressive move in T1. Anyway. Dan spun, and left myself, Wobbly and Dave, in the suprisingly fast shoebox behind us... Damn Volvo.
Wobbly and I swapped possies a few times, down the straight was a drafting battle and it was becoming clear it was gonna be a 7 lap door handle to door handle-fest, and Dave hat the hot seat...
I managed to sneak one up the inside of wobbly into the double right, and we were side by side for the rest of the lap, until the apex of the last turn, where I had to back off or end up punting him into a high speed slide.... Should've! Anyway, drafted past in the Merc, and outbraked wobbly, but he over and under'ed me and then in the haste to get out of T1/2 combo side by side, he understeered into my door, I was onto the grass and into the tyres... Then I speared across the track, somehow missing Dave, and spun a couple of times.... Reckon Wally had to change his jocks after he had to swerve to miss my stricken Merc. Lucky I smashed the clutch through the floor, or it would've taken me longer to get started.
Rejoined in about 11th, behind the battle involving Billy, Racer, Shayn, Shano, Berlz etc... I didnt see Wobbly, figured he had kept going... Then I found him, going slow through the final chicane... Good! Battle on for the last 2-3 laps... We caught up to Shayn after he ran wide at T1, and then he got involved in the door handle to door handle stoush. Ended up with Shayn just missing out on beating the both of us, and Wobbly behind halfway up my rear quarter at the finish line.... Damn it was close.

Race 2.
Pole. Lol. Damn.
Got a massive start, and could see everyone else struggling to drive off the line with their excessively HP'd chariots... HAHA! COP THAT! Very Happy
Short lived leader, Racer drove the Supra past down the straight at the end of L1 and then after a couple of laps, my PC froze... Eventually came back, but I was down in 9th, or 11th or something. BEHIND WOBBLY. GAAAH NOOOOOOO! Anyway, with my graphics retarded, (crowd was red, track was purple, there was no tyre marks in the braking areas, the grid slots were orange and where ever there was a shadow on the track, it went aqua) I kept pushing on. I wasn't doing particularly fast laps, high 35's being about it, but caught Dave (bloody Volvo!) and Billy, who were holding me up through the corners... Was like Calder all over again!! I could see Wobbly getting further away, but pitted as soon as possible, (possibly lap 11) then a couple of laps later, so did Wobbly.... Who was still in the pits when I went past. YES! SCORE!
Then I just had to hold off Billy and Dave till the end, which ended up being a bit easier as Billy's tyres must've gone off and he couldn't quite get close enough through the corners..

Eventually finished whatever the results say above. Lol.
No idea, other than I beat Wobbly. Which annoys him greatly, I'm sure. Very Happy

So yeah, 3rd in Group 2. Not bad for missing 4 races.

Hats off to Wally for running a great league. I've stopped racing elsewhere now. Love it mate. Keep it up!

And a bit hats off to ShaynSkyline. Dude, seriously, your driving is epic now. I watched the replay of you in R1, and you even had a go at the OUTSIDE of wobbly, and almost pulled it off, on the last lap. When I first joined up, you were going a lap down, so yeah. Proof is in the pudding mate. Keep it up and wobbly and I are gonna have to work hard to beat you in the Skyline next season! cheers

Well done Webber and GroupC, for what has been a pretty hard fought season between you two. Hats off fellas.

Well done to Wally for his win in Group 2, and Shayn for his 2nd

Well done to everyone really, the racing here is fantastic.

Moz.

Quick rundown, im tired. Lol

I didnt manage to my best time in Qualifying. So i ended up in 11th for race 1.

Race one was awesome, Mozza described it best. Got into a good spot on T1 and was running 8th or something for a while?
Some people ran off a couple times. Gained a bit.
Somehow i ended up fighting Wobbly and Mozza for about 2 laps or something. Very close and fast battles btw us three, but they just had a little bit more pace and i ended up behind em.
Finishing 11th. Deff the best sprint race ive been in all season, some great racing.

Race two, didnt go as well. I was getting crazy stutter all race, i think due to my graphics card, which made it impossible to be precise enough to challenge peoples pace.
Was considering pulling out cause it was so bad, but i rode it out and managed to have a couple nice laps with some people.
Wally and D.Patterson kept me busy for a while, then Wally ran off onto the grass, and im not sure if i hit him, i just couldnt tell cos of all the stutter, so im sorry if i had a part in your run off Wall.
Basically after i escaped Wally, i was chasing the pack the rest of the race, with a 9 second gap to Mozza and then elgibo, this went on for about 8 laps.
People pitted before me, so i was running 4th for a while lol, my highest position all season, but eventually i had to pit, came back out in 10th and finished there.

Season:

Alot of ups and downs this season, a huge learning curve for me, what with going from a PS3 controller to a DFGT wheel around race 5.
Learnt alot of valuable lessons as far as online racing goes, thanks to alot of help from you guys.
Sorry you all had to listen to my whinging all season, ill try and keep a lid on my emotions next season and use some of what ive learned to get some better finishes.

Big shout out to all the ppl that helped me out with setups and advice, especially Dan, Mozza, Wobbly and Webber.

Most of all to Wally for all the encouragement and making this thing run so well. I havent done a full season of online racing before, so i cant compare it to any others, but this is a great series.
I hope there's a few more to come.

I know its only online racing, but its a good way to spend spare time, id rather be doing this than watching TV all week like most ppl do. So yeah, great to be a part of it.

WD to Webber and Wally26 for taking out the championships in ther individual classes. Great drives.

Catch ya's at the next race.

What a shame that was the last race cos that was the best ever.
Had put in some good practice times but only qualied in 8th as i got disconnected and ran out of time.
Finally figured out how to get this thing off the line (clutch button... thanks Dan!) hit T1 in P6 and straight into a battle with dave ending with me outbraking myself and nearly taking out both dave and mozza. Rejoined in P10 behind dan, and after a couple of good battles with shayn and racer iI got up to P5 until T1 presented me with an extremely wide Toyota which I promptly T- Boned, tagged shayn trying to gather things up and ended up P9. Got into P8 with shano and racer chasing hard. Ran wide onto the straight and lost drive letting shano past into T1 and now had racer pushing. So now in P6 (i guess others had run off) I noticed bersley had torn another wheel off his commodore!. Anyway finished P6 after a awsome race.

Race 2 started from P3, got away ok and raced into T1 with dave and shano rubbed door handles with dave all thru T1 and some... unfortunately i pushed him into webber and they both lost time. Found myself chasing shano for P3 but again outbraked myself at T1 to end up P8. Ran off agin on L9 to end up P9 bhind mozza and dave. Passed the two of them down the straight into T1 to end up P7. Pitted L12 from P6 and rejoined in P9 behind mozza. Passed mozza again down the straight into T1 but had to ho on the defence as he attacked hard for the rest of the lap. Ran off again L16 letting dave and mozza back through leaving me in P9. Re-passed dave for P7 with 3 laps to go but had a tyre deflate on the last corner last lap finally finishing in P9.

Nice run shayn... you really had those lines covered and defended the corners well... thank god (webber?) for V8's and long straights.

Congrats to Webber, GroupC and Dan... the untouchables lol

Thanks to Wally for the massive effort to keep everything running and thanks to everyone for the awsome competition, Ive had a bit of a bash with online racing before but this is a whole other level and much more than i expected.. so well done to everyone.

Post by Webber 8/9/2011, 8:31 am

Well what an epic season. I had given up on the championship after some early problems like missing the start of the first race at Monza (where the commie was dominant), being baulked out of the lead by a backmarker in Germany, having the server drop me out of the lead in Spa, and being punted out of the lead at Brno lol! .

After that I was just driving for the honour of what the Commodore could have achieved if it had been entered in all the WTCC rounds (even though I'm a ford fan) and figured out how to cart it round tight circuits in respectable times -
  • the need to decide whether a corner was best taken at maximum radius or late apex, based on what came after it.
  • gearing the car perfectly for all the slow corners and to hit the limiter at the end of the fastest straight - not thinking of starts and sometimes having to try many combinations
  • making a good setup early on and making minor tweaks between tracks, so I could learn the car's handling predictably
  • driving the balls off the bastard

Thoroughly enjoyed every moment of practice and racing, and had a number of battles with everyone, and was always on my toes with the promise that GroupCAction would be competitive regardless of the track. Next season with the switch to the Sierra RS500 which many people are in, I look forward to racing in the middle of the field more often.

Just quietly, I'm pretty proud of what I was able to get the Commie to do on the Brno and Wellington street circuit, though it still wasn't good enough to beat Dan_gtsx.

To GroupCAction, thanks for the kind words... if you had won it would have been equally deserved. Next season, instead of practicing offline, you should come on the server during the week more, it's great fun with good banter.

Dan_gtsx, time to cut a spare key for your mum.

Wally26, thanks for a season brilliant in its conception, running, and admin.

I could mention so many names, but Shaynskyline your improvement has really impressed us all throughout the season, culminating in your move around the outside this weekend.

See yall at the Commodore Cup in which I'll be starting from last or having a weight handicap!

All the regulars this season (plus the new members who've become members) deserve a pat on the back as well, its great to see everyone showing up week after week, and also everyone showed faith & stuck with it during the server troubles mid-season, which i think is great to find in a league Smile

Wow what a season... where do i start...

Wally thank you for running this series, you've done a mega job all season and its a credit to you and everyone who keeps TTR ticking along!! Very Happy

Webber mate... Top job buddy, top job... to miss a race, have a CTD and still win the championship shows what pace you had in the Rothmans machine... We had some epic battles that were some of the best races ive ever had online!!

In summary of my series...

Highlights: Was the Jarama round where i took out Pole, 2 Race wins and Fastest Lap in a round where the car was a jet... Also the Silverstone TT was an great battle with me & Webber that went on all race!! The last round at Fuji was epic too, with race 1 up there as 1 of the most enjoyable races i had all season long!!

Lowlights: Was my performance at Wellington, a track which i thought would seal the championship was my downfall and worst round...

Summary of my fellow competitors and looking forward to ATCC 88: Geez what a few months have done to you lot (THATS EVERYONE!!) I ran a few races in the previous season and wow havent all you guys come on strong with plenty of seat time...
* Shaynskyline for me has to have won the most improved over the season, you turned a real corner at Brno mate and from there you've been hounding the other Group 2 guys.
* Dan_gtsx has had plenty of pace throughout the season, alot of times quicker than myself and Webber... I'm alittle scared Dan's gonna do a Sebastian Vettel on us in ATCC 88 hahaha
* Wobbly, Mozza & Wally you guys pushed the Grp1 boys all season long and its credit to you in extracting some amazing results in the little cars, i hope i can do what you've done in my M3
* Racer69 has gotta have a special shout out as he put up with a different car all season long and got some mega results from it, almost winning Spa from memory, well done mate.
* Dave Gibbo for driving the Swedish bus, picking up plenty of good results with some good speed too
* Bersly, Obbzy, Shano were all banging on the door round in round out and you guys also did a stellar job all season long.

Looking forward to ATCC 88 alot, the M3 is gonna be a mega challenge for me... i know at some of the longer tracks i'll struggle but i really hope to be in contention for podiums at Amaroo, Oran & Lakeside!

Again thanks to everyone who turns up on Sunday nights, i don't know what i'd do on Sunday nights without this league... (Prob have to spend time with the missus Rolling Eyes Very Happy ) hahaha so lets keep this TCL whatever alive for a long while to come hahahaha

See you on track!! Smile

all i did was press some buttons and make some posters, you guys are what make the series and no matter how organized or not anyone is.... it is the drivers that make it.
So keep up the great work guys and I'll see you in the vks and then onto the serious stuff once again.
