Pitstops in races
Just an idea or two for next season when it comes to pitstops;
Perhaps an idea could be to make it still x3 tyre wear, but cut it back to normal fuel use? Fuel use didn't really make much difference in the '87 WTCC series. To my surprise the class 2 cars didn't gain as much in fuel use as i thought, and everyone stopped around the same times for fuel... all it seemed to do was spread people out or some got pinged for speeding.... I reckon there would be more varied races and strategies if it was only the tyres that were increased.. you'd have some picking hard tyres, some picking softs and stopping for new one's, some battling on with old tyres etc.... could be interesting... plus the small cars are easier on their tyres (but not alot with fuel)
In addition, is it possible to dis-able the pit speed limits? ? This would encourage more tyre stops without having to trundle along at 40 or 50kph (especially at long pit lanes like Oran Park), and also you wouldn't have people's races being ruined by getting caught doing 3kph over the limit or something....

Re: Pitstops in races
I can't get my head around your idea and what it would mean for races.lol so yeah I don't have an opinion abt it.
The pit lane speed limit however, should stay in place. The last thing I would want when I have just just spent 40 seconds waiting for my pit crew to finish is to pull out and get smashed to bits by some maniac doing 130 down pit lane.
I fully support pit lane speed limits. lol
We all have to do the limit so no one loses, I think the risk of something going wrong is too high.
Up to the mods, if they think its a decent idea, then ok.

yea i like the ideas racer, agree the fuel thing didnt really make any difference this season, or the tyres as much as i thought really as everyone seemed to be able to maintain pace on a 1 stop strategy

Yeh leave the limit in place, it's just another thing you've gotta use while you're racing...
I reckon x5 tyres and normal fuel, as the smaller tank of the Group 2 cars (100L Vs 120L) negated any advantage, much to my dismay lol!

when the tyres go off, some will pit for new tyres, some will battle on with their old tyres, same as last season, except the fuel wouldn't be as much of an issue as the fuel burn would be left on normal (ie..you'd probably get through an hour race without needing more fuel)

I think most people would drive sensibly down the pits, and there wasn't any pit lane speed limit before the mid-90s anyway... its just you lose so much time trundling along (especially at the Australian tracks like Oran Park and Symmons which have the 40kph speed limit in game) that it'll discourage a gamble on new tyres for example, as so much time is lost in transit.
It could all be a moot point of course, i've no idea if its even possible to turn the speed limits off

When you're doing an offline event you can set it to x5 I believe.

Fuelx2
tyresx3
seemed to work very well in some other leagues.
Not sure on pit limits, to my understanding you would have to break into the track itself and change them. which will result in countless mismatches in practise.

I think the format we have it pretty spot on... im all for pit lane speed limits... Shayn made a good point, nothing would sh*t me more than doin my stop, pulling out and getting nailed by someone...

Wally all sounds and looks good... 1 question, is Quali going to be an all in this year... I think it adds to the excitement, puts abit of pressure on for the session...

Re: Pitstops in races
i with group c on this 1//// i think qualy should be all in...adds to the challenge and can get a tow along on the big str8s which can change things a bit too... and deciding when to go out to get a clean lap also adds to it all....

Re: Pitstops in races
With Saturdays I went with Private Qual Only because I wanted to bring the Qual Time back to 10 mins and Push the Race Distances so we could run a little bit further as we run 2 x 40min Races for the V8SC Series. With 20 mins Qual there would be time get your run to get a lap in with a open qual even with the big fields and certainlly makes it more interesting.
