So far ive got 1:03.9 in the R31. And the Corollas are faster than me.

Facepalm.

Never too early

This round should be a cracker, nice and tight, the Sierra's mighe be quicker over a lap, but the tyres will cop a caning over a race distance.

Pretty disappointed with how Dick Johnson didn't let the leader past to lap him for ages, especially for someone who should have been used to lapping by that stage!

yep, i noticed that my tyres were basically on fire after about 12 laps. lol.

best i've done is 1:02:5. this track just isn't fun in a commodore, so bloody hard to get power down

Very abrasive track this Winton, best lap so far 1:00.6 ... M3 feels pretty good, race pace over a 20lap test was in the mid to high 1:01's

How can the M3 be 3 seconds faster a lap. The Sierra AI's were doing max 0:59.8. On 120% DIff.

best i can manage is 1:03.9, Corollas qualied on 1:02.8.

Shayn the only tip that i can give with Winton is that besides being tight and technical i have found its a real rhythm circuit. Try not to over drive the car!
The tight infield section is where all the time is made...

Ha, yeah grpc, after about 60 laps I was starting to take the turns almost automatically.
So I can see how you have to get into a regular rythm to make a decent time.

But 1min flat in the M3 is just amazing.

No way you can over drive the car here. It will kill yur times.

I agree with GroupC early this year in the V8's I had a great run and the key was slow was fast. Not sure in the Nissan but the in V8's I actually spent most of the night short shifting and gear higher than would of thought I should be in into most corners to make sure I didn't have it sliding out of corners to much.



I took this approach from the first practice session and concerated on purely on tyre life and consistencey. It took a few sessions but in time and long distance setup testing I found I was nearly as quick the other guys fastest times and I was still running every lap on heavy fuel and looking after tyres. In qual I still put the car on pole but once again didn't throw the car around drove steady and managed 1:20.980 over half a second clear of anyone else and ran 1:20.934 during the race showing that my qual time was just my something I could achieve in race trim (these times are on the longer version of the track and on control tyres not the sprint tyres)



Please Don't take this the wrong way but I think your currently similar to myself and don't quite have the outright speed that some of our fast guys do (and although at times it appears they are able to jump on grab a setup or run default and run a second quicker than what we have achieved over the past few days practice, remember they were all like we are at some point and have put the time in over the years to get where they are now and admittly some also have natural ability that take them to higher level than others but 90% of the fast guys it is purely years of practice).



This track I took as my best chance getting a good result as it is a tyre destoryer and I by doing it this way I achieve probably my best drive in the V8 mod I managed to Win Race One and was target for race two but had a fuel fill issue meaning I had too stop and extra time and finished second. The only member that ran with me was the same person that beat me by over a 2 laps the previous year the gap back to the rest of the field was pretty massive over a lap in race two in most cases and in race one by over 30 seconds and these are guys that we run consistently similar speed week after week.

Ah man! This is another of the tracks I've never raced! Gutted I can't have a go I finish moving this weekend, which is great but I get back home at around 2pm on sunday - bout 3 hours too late I'll be at the next one tho! Can't wait! Go go go shayn!

As for Winton, it should hopefully be some great dicing between all the cars, i'm predicting some david & goliath battles with the M3

This Sunday's race will be dedicated to Peter Brock, September 8th five years ago Australia received it's second lot of shocking/tragic news for the week. Peter Brock, dead after an accident in a rally in Western Australia. Nothing much I can say about the man that isn't already known. Very sad day indeed in Australian motor racing history.
He died doing what he loved and that is something that probably won't be a luxury for many of us.
RIP Brocky, we all still miss you..... W26

Best i have managed in my R31 is 1:02.420, on Hard tyres and 80L of fuel.

Pretty happy with that so far, only done about 60 laps i think lol.

Another hundred laps and i should be in the mid 1:01s.

Not a huge fan of WintonClub, but im getting used to it.

I'm down to 1:06s, not a track I like. I hate stop, start. I love fast & flowing tracks.

i just gonna be fillin up the tank and plodding around this track....
best thing about winton is the bakery in town, not a bad feed at all i will admit....

I am currently running around on a slightly tweaked default setup. And can get fairly regular 1:02s. In the race tonight they will prolly turn into high 1:03s.

Every setup i have come up with, that have made me go faster, just burn tyres to nothing. After 16 or so laps my front left was on 150deg, and the right was on about 128.

The only way to cool em down was to revert to the default setup.

But its stable and i can do consistent laps. Im not expecting much here, as M3s are beating my times lol. So hopefully i can latch onto someone and just have a good battle or two.
