easter real life event 2012
This year it is TCL 1.1 at QLD raceway
Server will only be open during event details times below
(probably a bit before times)
This is to hopefully bring real life to rfactor as closely as we can.
I want everyone to pick their favourite real cars and why. and to use these cars for this event so we don't end up in a Sierra event.

I will go with the Grice 86 ETCC commodore as specified in the other thread. I probably won't make Sunday but I should be around for Saturdays action.

I'll have the GIO Commodore from 1990. I've liked that car since Mark Gibbs gave me a signed the poster for just before Lakeside in 1990. It's laminated and still on the wall in my garage. The real car is on the market for $300K, i gues this is the only way I'll get to race it.

Re: easter real life event 2012
Friday Morning(too early)
Goodmorning all and from TTR, myself and Shazam, Hope you have a great and safe Easter. Take it easy if your on the road.
Just got the server ready and had a quick early shakedown to make sure everything is running alright. All is good.
Low traction and Low ABS has been added for those that don't use TCL that much. On my test laps this morning I dot a time of 1m15.7s.
Of course no full setup as yet.
Those that want to practice offline can set tyres/fuel to normal. As mentioned above low ABS/traction control.
Full flag rules.
Online first Practice session time is in the posts above. Please use Teamspeak and for realism please return to the pits before you escape to your garage unless accident.
Once again happy Easter. See you all through the weekend if you haven't escaped to anywhere.

Re: easter real life event 2012
Internet is slow, it took ages to d/l the track. D/L finished 5 minutes after P1 finished.
(Must check I've got the right track, not just assume).
Worth it though, this version of the track is much better than the previous one. It was done by the same bloke who did Lakeside 2008 & 2010. He's also working on Lakeside '80s and Bathurst 1984.

Re: easter real life event 2012
After first prac ... I guess i'll stick with the Longhurst Freeport Sierra. Not really a fan of the sierra but plenty of commos already and Tony Longhurst was a demon in his day. Will also be away saturday (seriously thinking of taking my PC along!) but will hopefully be home in time sunday.

Re: easter real life event 2012
the track has about 17 times more grip offline anyways. so it wont help much.
if i can get top 6 in qualy i'd be pretty happy. With all these Commos and Billy's rocket, im not confident though.
Will be a great event.

I don't think there were any CPS's at all in V8s the last few years.
They've reduced the fuel tank sizes, which forces a pitstop in justabout all the races. Having said that, i don't think there were any stops in the two Saturday races at QR last year
I should join in the fun for practice 4, i'll run the DJR Mustang

Re: easter real life event 2012
Very surprised at the pace of the sierra didnt expext it to be that much quicker.. not sure why.
As for my fav car its not here.. .. the 42 & 43 Stuyvesant Mazdas of Moffat and Hansford.
Owned rotaries myself during this period and turned moffat from villian to hero for me, and Greg Hansford really showed what he was made of in the mazda.

I'm partial to the rotaries myself, my favourites were the Terry Shiel and Barry Jones 'Darrel Lea' variety though

Results for prac 3
OK HUGE Announcement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Due to an issue with the pits on this version of QLD Raceway we have to revert back to the old version effective from next practice session onwards...
I have been told that setups for both versions don't differ that much.
To help compensate for practice already done the 3.25pm session will now be of one hours duration.

Looks like most of us are about a second slower at this old track.
At least we can pit safely though.
WD guys.

Re: easter real life event 2012
This version levels the times a little at least. Takes a while to adjust to... it is a different track and anything learned at the other track is not relevant here. But should all be ok on the day. Will probably only make the 65 laps on Sunday

Re: easter real life event 2012
It's looking like I won't make any of the races. Did have a bit of fun with practice I was a bit more competitive when we swapped to the old version of the track. First time I'd driven the VK, the car feels great through the two fast sweeping corners but I can't say I enjoy it as much through the hairpins.

Re: easter real life event 2012
i know we are going for realism. but all in qualifying is really annoying.
You leave stacks of room to the next person so you dont run into them, then someone comes off and you catch them right on the line and have to push past maybe ruining their lap and yours. Then people pull out of pit lane in front of you not looking out for any other cars coming down the road.
sheesh! i think i only got 4 clean laps done. /whinge
wd Corty.

Re: easter real life event 2012
yeah. really great. blardy ford.
im busy chasing setvo for the lead, sitting .300 off him, then in the space of 2 laps this blue buzz bucket had caught right up and passed me on the second last lap.
i've never gone from cursing a vl driver to cheering for one so fast.
it was to no avail. corty got by him in the last 2 turns.
a great race though, great battle with RRiCHO and then Setvo. Shame ill miss tmro.
GL to everyone.
