Re: Le mans Sports Car Enduro - Sunday 5th August
I'll be keen on doing this event.
These cars are amazingly awesome. They are incredibly nimble like an f1 car but have so much more road holding ability. They really are heaps of fun to drive fast.

Re: Le mans Sports Car Enduro - Sunday 5th August
As Kiwi already knows I checked out the server last night and all was ok.
I got about half down the Mulsanne straight before remembering it was the old version where the straight hadn't been chopped up into three bits separated by chicanes.
This is where you'll be sipping on your beer as the scenery flies by at well over 300 km/h for what seems like forever.
These cars rock! try them anywhere else (just remember to gear them down a lot first as they are geared for le mans by default).
They are super nimble and really responsive. My favourite mod ever!

Feel and sound great to drive, the draft is huge so racing should be great and close
And as you say plenty of time for getting a fresh one down that straight, just put a brick on the accelerator and all good!

Bump
I'm wondering who else is gearing up for this. I've done a few laps but definitely need to a fair bit more. I think my quickest time so far is somewhere in the 3.20s. That should come down by at least 10 seconds I'd say.
Has anyone else been to the actual event? I was there in 2001.
That was pretty awesome.
Seeing the whole field come through the dunlop bridge corner for first time round was pretty amazing.
The engine sounds are relatively tame compared to F1 but still awesome. The 911s stood out soundwise i.e. it felt like they were going to rip your eardrums as they came by at the dunlop bridge.
Late at night we took a bus down to the Arnage corner. It's after the mulsanne straight. The cars come screaming into a hard braking zone and then accelerate hard up the next straight. This is cool because the brakes are glowing at night time.
Also the numbers on the cars glow which makes them all look awesome.
I had about 2 hours sleep max and that was on the tour bus.
It's well worth checking out if you're ever near france in june.

Looking forward to this
Maybe run it over 2hrs, with the time set to x10 or something to simulate a 24hr distance?

Get a brick for the Mulsanne straight and you wont need a nappy.
This is going to be mean!!!
2hours sounds good to me.
I'm wondering what cars other people are going to run.
I'm in a Jag. I'm topping out at 340 km/h on the long straight running by myself, still need to try a bit of slipstreaming.
Anyone else care to share their top speeds?

Also running in the Jag, can get 350km/h or so with max boost, max revs and minimal rake (rear ride height - front ride height) down the straight, and of course minimum front and rear wings.

Thanks Iceman, I hadn't even noticed there was boost adjustment.

Re: Le mans Sports Car Enduro - Sunday 5th August
Also naturally the ride height is different at 300km/h+ down Mulsanne to what the static ride height setup is in the pits, so as far as I can tell, looking at the ride height trace in Motec i2, if you setup with minimum spring stiffness, 250 front and 200 rear, then a 15mm higher rear in the pits should equate to equal front and rear height approaching maximum speed down Mulsanne.

Is the server set with mechanical damage? If so, your engine may not last with full boost etc...IcemanForbes wrote:Also running in the Jag, can get 350km/h or so with max boost, max revs and minimal rake (rear ride height - front ride height) down the straight, and of course minimum front and rear wings.

We generally run no mechanical damage on our servers so I'm guessing not.
And cheers again Iceman. setup ideas I hadn't ever thought about.
So you end up with low/no rake at high speed and normal type rake for the corners?
Awesome.

Re: Le mans Sports Car Enduro - Sunday 5th August
Nah the server appears to have mechanical failures off, but as it happens, the SportPrototypes engine ini specifies 0 additional wear for increased boost levels anyway, although the 2% more fuel PER setting could make things interesting, and that additional fuel would add more heat to the engine, but then mechanical failures are off.
Interestingly in the Audi R10 at KSR with mechanical failures normal, by my calculations it should still easily last a 4 hour race on maximum, let alone the likely 1.2 hours.

Re: Le mans Sports Car Enduro - Sunday 5th August
What is the plan regarding the race start?
A standing start or rolling?
If rolling is the go, perhaps the best way is the start the race as a normal standing start, but treat the first lap as the pace lap with the pole-sitter setting the speed, then at the end of the lap form up and start the race? (this takes out any problems with the in-game rolling start etc..)?

The server is called "ttrracing.com- GROUPC Enduro" - sort by name and look for the lower case t. You might need to refresh a couple of times. Do you have the mod yet? - if not, go to Downloads above and get the SportsPrototypes LE v2.2.

Did some testing in the Nissan, struggling to find a quick set-up. Best lap was 3:39, top speed was only 315km/h. Car feels nice to drive.

Bugger, can't make it, Mum's throwing a birthday dinner. Was so keen to go hard in the 956.
If Racer you could change the sessions etc., that would be awesome thanks.
Good luck all and looking forward to reading reports.

We ahve switch to the home server to get race happening
if you can't find the server you might
find it hard to find if so go to his rfactor/UserData/TTR Benny(youruser name
in your case) folder find the file multiplayer.ini
Open this folder up with notepad and search for the text
Concurrent Server Updates="400"
if you change it to
Concurrent Server Updates="5000"
This enables it to search for more servers when joining an event.
Or search for ip addess 101.160.160.46
