geez that first chicane will claim a few drivers during the race. it did when i raced the 85 f1 cars around here and it's definately a commo track.

Hey guys... so I was hosting a barbecue at my place for our footy team end of season, went a bit over time, missed out on both races!
Liveracers seemed to cut out halfway through the long race just after Corty pitted, what ended up happening?

Re: Round 7 - Ostereichring (September 22)
just curious how all the other guys races went, both my races were hard fought with corty, racer, billy and fez all dicing in a 4 way battle for the lead. the first chicane caught me out a few times and had a rear lock up issue going into it as well. forgot to shift brake bias forward as the fuel came down and caught me out.
1st race
corty got the jump at the start with the mighty commo having the better torque and top speed, couldnt let him romp away without a fight and i lost count of how many times we overtook eachother, was an awesome race. unsure if corty had issues at first chicane also but it was good to see a Volvo 1-2-3
2nd race
same thing, some great battles, thought i was going on my roof at the first chicane but somehow managed to not cause a huge collision and regathered. waited for racer to pit as i wanted to make sure where the actual lane started and used him as a guide. had to chase down racer after the pit stops and that was a good dice with corty and billy both closing in as we swapped positions numerous times..

Results are updated on sls.
Two really great races from my seat. A really nice track to drive, and despite the long straights the BMW handled the long curves brilliantly and allowed me to stay in the hunt, particularly the last half of the lap was the cars forte.
I race 1 i got the front row spectater position as Chris and Corty went at it, swapping lots of places... unfortunatly i took too much kerb at the chicane during the latter part of the race and had a big lose, resumed in 6th and that was where i stayed, a silly mistake but that happens.
In race 2 i drove my best race in ages. I started 6th and through capitalising on dices infront i was able to get through the pack and up with billybob and Chris who were at the front. I managed to get ahead and started to pull away leading into the pitstops.
I emerged from the pits ahead and initially started growing my lead but they Chris started catching me back in. We had a fantastic battle, lots of side by side stuff but no touching and towards the end Corty joined in too.
I just missed out on the win by half a second, but it was a fabulous dice, a great nights racing.
On to Nurburgring next week.

Re: Round 7 - Ostereichring (September 22)
Big weekend in the shed, getting my mate's car ready for the IPRA Nationals next weekend. Logged on in time for some rpac before qually and had the wrong version of the track. thx for waiting while we all got sorted.
Qualified in my usual postion; last, several seconds slower than anyone else.
Race 1 I got a good start and narrowly avoided some carnage at the first chicane, came out in 11th place and tried to hang on to the pack. Gradually fell back and ended up 13th.
Race 2 I got another good start and then threw it away at the first chicane, turret test put me behind the barriers and i drove for nearly half a lap looking for a gap in the fence to rejoin the circuit. Eventually rejoined, now 3/4 of a lap down, considered packing it in right there, but plugged on.
Another spin at half distance cost me a lap because i must have missed a check point somewhere.
Used heaps less fuel in the first 15 muinutes so i reduced the amount i took on in my only stop.
With two laps to go it was looking very tight, so i backed off and shortshifted to save fuel. As i came out of the last corner it ran out, so i quickly knocked it down through the gears to roll across the line in neutral, but each downchange cost em a heap of momentum and i coasted to a halt 100m short of the line.
Huge thanks to Dean for backing up and giving me a push home. (CAMS won't let you do that.)
Patto's top tip for the day. - If you want to coast home on vapours, don't change down to neutral, just put the clutch in.

Really enjoyed driving around that track. I think I drove pretty well in both races and knocked off the other Mercs but didn't have the straight line speed to keep up with the cars in front.
