Re: TCL 2.5 Litre Trans Tasman Challange - Round 1 (28th September)
Hi guys.
I tried to do an intro but for some reason the cursor was not working in that thread so could not type.
I have been out of racing for 2 years, and only recently reinstalled factor. I forgot how much i missed this game.
I would love to come and do some racing when time permits.
I would like to have a run in the merc tonight if that's cool. Is there any other things i need to know before tonight's race??
Ive read your rule book and will adhere to all your rules. Thanks Brett

Re: TCL 2.5 Litre Trans Tasman Challange - Round 1 (28th September)
Well done guys. Last nights racing was awesome.
The starts were clean and the general racing was very good.
Good to see a few new faces in there too...although one of them left us all for dead!
I had some good laps with the WBR guys, and even diced with IcemanForbes there for a while.
I did pit in the second race where I probably didn't need to...but better to be safe then sorry.
Well done to the guys who finished in the top 3. Well done to Jake getting a top 10 in the second race too.
Bring on next week!!

That was a good night, big fields, a fun track and close, clean racing.
I think less powerful cars that handle well, being easier to drive, close the gap between people like me and people who know what they're doing.

Re: TCL 2.5 Litre Trans Tasman Challange - Round 1 (28th September)
Great fun last night all
Ended up choosing the Alfa 75 Turbo, just to have something other then a M3 and Merc on the track.
Got a PB in qually in the Alfa and put me on 3rd (Very happy with that)
Race 1, struggled getting off the line, had to have a few stabs at the clutch to get it moving, but I noticed a few others did as well.
As the race went on, I was losing positions due to understeer at turn 3 & 4.
Also coming out of the hair pin, the car seemed to bog down, but then all of a sudden break into wheel spin. Got worse as the race went on.
Ended up 6th.
Race 2, started 4th on the grid because of the reverse top 10.
Got a great start, straight to 1st before the first corner.
Tried to pull a decent gap before the faster guys come through the pack.
Racer came up pretty quick, didn't bother getting in his way as there was no point due to his alien speed lol, so just lifted off down the back straight and let him past.
Fez & Chrisrx caught me in the last part of the race, had a great dice with them, trying to keep them behind, but again turn 4 & the hairpin let me down.
Still very happy with 4th
Great to see some new guys join in, hope to see you guys again in the coming races

Re: TCL 2.5 Litre Trans Tasman Challange - Round 1 (28th September)
Yeah was a good night!
Loved racing the older cars on a quick short track. Definately showed any lack of pace you had! Nowhere to hide haha
Did a few laps to get my head around the slower cars, ended up working out a pretty good setup for me.
In Qualy i kept getting borked and whenever i was on a good lap, if i wasn't borked, i managed to stuff it up myself. Only to drop a PB with seconds to spare jumping to the top of the WBR trio.
Race 1 i got a great start, was 8th onto the back straight and pretty happy with that. But, into the hairpin someone in front of me braked way earlier then i expected so i moved to the left to avoid hitting them, only to go straight off into the sand. Put me far behind the pack but i got back onto it and moved forward, finishing 14th which i was very happy with.
Race 2, Had a plan in place, which, like a lot of people, included pitting. I knew i could do the whole race on a set of soft tyres, and as it told me that my tank was only good for 36 laps, i figured a splash of fuel will suffice. Started well and just kept lapping as well as i could. unfortunately it was in the 2s and 3s. pitted for my fuel and continued, jumping a couple of people as they pitted. As the race went on though, i had a real hard time holding any pace through the last turn onto the straight, and throught 2-3. Front left tyre had nothing left and it was killing my times. Near the end i had Growler chasing me down. i was watching the gap deminish quite rapidly. with only a couple of laps in hand he brought it down about a second and a half, and coming out of T3, i saw him clip the inside, throwing it high up on 2 wheels for what seemed like 3n half minutes. eventually caught me and we managed to race a lot longer than i anticipated however it was only a matter of time till he got me after i ran wide through a left.
Was good racing by all and i am keen to see how this season can go!
See you at Bathurst!!!!

Yeah...had to put the hammer down to catch you!
I was lucky when I two-wheeled it onto the back straight. It seemed to go on for ages. I really thought I was going to put it on its roof!
It was great fun catching you though!
Looking forward to Bathurst.
