Re: Legends of Bathurst - Round 6: Sandown Raceway (Feb 28th)
I decided not to go with the Sandown 1968 version, due to a few glitches with the track.
Also some of the Hey bales are like concrete & where they are on the track, it is easy to get tapped from another car and get pushed into them, which results in a broken car.
So we will be racing on the newer version, which we will definitely get more cars finishing the race.
Will do the same thing with Bathurst as well.

Bugger, I love the old Sandown, particularly the shot through the Causeway and under the Dunlop Bridge. The current circuit is mickey mouse.
Might suit my Escort a bit more though so I'll stop complaining.

That's where you write your car off under that bridge if your get it wrong
If it was a 3 race, I would have stuck with the 68 version, but because its a long race, I think there would have been allot of DNF's, which is never fun LOL
The turns in the newer version are allot sharper, also turn 2 & 3 doesn't exist on the 68 version, so yeah it will help the smaller cars. They will need all the help they can get at Sandown !

Had a run in the Escort, got its time down to a 1:25.360 with the new gearbox, which around Sandown is pretty good I think.
The Escort should do well at Calder & Mallala,
Also with the new gear set in it now, it should pull better going up the mountain at Bathurst !

On a week that I actually practiced ... someone's stuck chicanes in the track mid week ... :-(
But understand why.

That was my best race so far, I had a really nice rhythm going. I think if Worm ran the same strategy as me he would have beat me though.

Re: Legends of Bathurst - Round 6: Sandown Raceway (Feb 28th)
The old Charger really struggled for pace around here, especially race pace.
But I knew I could make it with one stop, so I was still in with a good chance for a great result.
Made a couple of silly mistakes in the first 10 laps, but was still in good shape.
Had some dices with Stevo, Dave, SMT27 only the way.
So lap 20 came up & was starting to plan my pit stop for a little over half way through the race, but on lap 24 BANG !!
The engine gave up on me
My fault, I should have been lifting off the throttle on the upshifts.
A big congrads to DV_8 !! Well Done !!
Clearly the stand out drive of the night, by being so consistent thoughout the race.

Re: Legends of Bathurst - Round 6: Sandown Raceway (Feb 28th)
PENALTIES !!
For Round 6
After a long night of watching the replay for this round, I've decided to dish out a few penalties
First of all I wanted to thank Dave for coming forward & owning up to an incident that he caused between him & Seca.
I had a good look, it wasn't deliberate (IMO), but it ultimately took Seca out of the race due to so much damage.
Now comes the part I saw while looking for Dave & Seca's accident....
I don't like pointing the finger at people, but in this case it had to be done...
Darren Whittington & TTR-Chrisrx both exceeded the track limits lap after lap from start to finish.
Turns 7 & 11 were the main corners I had a problem with, also the exits of turn 1 & 13 were abused lap after lap.
Don't mind a little wide of the corner exits, but not to the extreme you guys were taking it.
Chris Donnelly was also spotted doing the same, but not as bad as the other two.
I understand mistakes can be made due to miss calculating or overshooting a corner, but not lap after lap to make gains.
Makes it very unfair to the guys doing the right thing.
60kg Penalty to Dave for causing an accident.
60kg + 5 Grid spot penalty goes to Darren Whittington for exceeding track limits.
60kg + 5 Grid spot penalty goes to TTR-Chrisrx for exceeding track limits.
40kg + 3 Grid spot penalty goes to Chris Donnelly for exceeding track limits.
Weight from the penalties will be added for Qualify & race 1 of the next round.
The weight stays until you loose it.
Also the grid spot penalties apply to race 1 of the next round.
One last thing was the fastest lap of the race.
Originally thought Darren Whittington got it, but after looking closer, Darren actually got that lap on the first lap due to where the start/finish line is on the track, making it a shorter lap for the first lap.
It shouldn't be counted as the fastest lap, that makes OR-WORM's lap of 1:24.395 the best Lap time of the Race.
If anyone has anything else they want me to look at or a problem with the above penalties, just PM me.

Re: Legends of Bathurst - Round 6: Sandown Raceway (Feb 28th)
Fair call. I know I was a bit greedy on the inside kerb on the entry to the second last corner Turn 11. As well as the exit of Turn 1 on occasions.
