Re: Car Selections
David and gang
The Alfa is a challenge to myself and I will love it on the tighter circuits.
Truth is I will be at most if not all rounds and if I am consistant will be a force even in a corrolla.
I won the last one(championship) and think it's only fair (not up myself but aware that some people wont be able to make this round, some people won't be able to make that round)
to set myself the challenge of taking the series out in a class 2 car.
However, I really enjoy driving the mercedes so I might select one of those compared to the alfa.
David, Sharyn is fast approaching your level and will provide heaps of competition for you over the season as well.
Shano, 635 it is and i'll adjust front page today some time.
Cheers w26

if i pick a M3 for instance, do i have no hope at winning races cos the Commo's are faster? (not JUST cos im using a ps3 remote? )
hmm. might have to reconsider. im actually trying to do well this season.
dont wanna be disadv. from the first lap.
Just because an M3 is slower in a straightline doesn't mean it will be uncompetitive shayn.
On the tighter circuits the M3 is MUCH more suitable than a Commodore.
Also remember that the M3 is much easier on its tyres and uses less fuel. Remember also this series has x3 fuel use and x3 tyre use, so the M3's will be very competitive come the end of each race. Infact i see the M3 as a much more competitive option than a Commodore or Sierra over a season.

Re: Car Selections
yer i realise these things i think lol.
just disconcerting when ppls laps are 5 seconds faster than mine in the practice server.
my setup is gonna need some work. but i think i will stay with the M3.
the WTCC Marlboro M3 BMW #43 to be precise Wally
just managed a 2:03.903 @ Monza, so im heading in the right direction. lol

Don't be put off by lapping a few seconds slower in an M3 around Monza than a Commodore or Sierra. Over a race distance, even at Monza, you will be competitive due to the fact the bigger cars might require an extra stop for more fuel or tyres.
Around Monza over one lap the M3 will never be near the Class 3 cars, but over a race distance it has every chance of being infront.
The likes of Jarama in round 2 will suit the M3 down to the ground, and it will likely be quicker over a lap than the big cars.
One of the beauties of Group A was that different cars suited different tracks, and over a season it all equals out.

Agree totally with Racer69.
The additional bonus with the M3 is that it handles so well you're not gonna be as worried about losing control of the car
compared to the Commodores etc, so you can concentrate more on racelines, braking & accelerating techniques, driving in amongst traffic and the like.
By the end of this series you'll surprise yourself how much better of a driver you'll be driving a M3. Getting familiar
with your car is the most important thing, and you can only do that by doing as many laps in it as possible.
More laps, more familiar, better lap times.
Cheers

Where are they now?
As a keen history buff and a mad keen fan of group A, I was just looking at the opening post on this thread and thinking about where these cars are now. Interestingly, at least 4 of the cars we have selected now live in Melbourne, perhaps as many as 6. Some of the WTCC cars however, I have no idea.

Re: Car Selections
Hey guys,
I'm new here, big first post ey?
Just wondering if there is room for 1 more????
If so, I'd like to run the No. 55 Merc. Otherwise, forget I asked
Hopefully I'll catch a few of you on the server before the race anyway.
Cheers

Re: Car Selections
Hey Mozza,
Good to see you in the server today turning some laps. You were setting VERY competitive times, it'll be good competition for Wally who's also fast in the other Merc.
Just so you know there's a bit of discussion going on about switching to the longer form of the track in the pre-race thread. I think it turns out the majority would like to do it. Just so you know you might have to put in some time on the longer version.
It'll be great to see you on Sunday at 7:30 pm!
