Rd9 - Calder Park
Onto Round 9 or the series at Calder Park, Australia had the honour in 1987 of being the only country to host two rounds of the inaugural series
What times are people doing, i'd assume the hot times will be in the 1m 01 range?
Here is the action from the real 1987 WTCC round from Calder

Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
I would reckon 60 seconds wouldn't be an unreasonable time, given the quality of some of the Group 1 guys around.
Although, you guys do have to be nice to me this round, as it's my home track - being only 30 mins away.
Who votes for all in quali here? Geez it would be mayhem, trying to get a clean lap!!
Edit - server up tonight???

racer, the only thing your corolla will be towing down that straight is a whole heap of poor styling decisions!

Thanks Wally!
Just looking at the Group 2 points, it's tightening up a bit for 3rd spot! Shayn better watch out too, 1 DNF could see him over run on the run home too!

Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
so i think ive done about 200 laps or more in practice.. they clock over so quick.
Can't say im a fan of this place, its going to be a tough race with a bunched field judging ppls times so far so any mistakes will be costly.
Just a note... are rules on here for practice?... specifically discounting laps for cutting corners?.
In a previous practice session with shano tonite (were he got a 1:01xx btw very impressive) i think i got a 1:02.2 or something.. however the lap was a bit dodgy to say the least by cutting the last few corners out by cutting across the grass... at pace i got a 1:00.008 by doing the same thing.. but i should have been pinged and the lap discounted, but it was posted.
Just something to look out for.

IMO it's a crappy little track and and as an Aussie i'm embarrased that the World Champinship went there, not Sandown.
But, I reckon tracks that aren't "driver's tracks" often create great racing. Qld Raceway is a good example, Morgan Park is another. I'm down to a 1:05.2, so plenty of speed to find......... Fighting low speed understeer mostly.

Agree Dave. But, here we are, so what happened last night on first practice session?
Did about 35 laps with Mozza & Shaynskyline. Started off with 1:05's... changed the gearing &
after being 'thrown' around over the ripple strips made some changes to the
suspension, times came down into the 1:03's.
Dunno how much more time I'll find by Sunday (hopefully lots, but if I can crack a 1:02
I'll be ecstatic! ). Should have good race pace again too.
Cheers

Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
Ok...since I wasn't able to run my volvo last round, I'm redownloading and installing tcl again. Is there any set way to uninstall the mod? I've had a look through my rfactor directory and I can't see an uninstaller. Before Bathurst I just did an install over the top without uninstalling, which is maybe why it didn't let me load the volvo. Do you think I should just install it onto a fresh copy of rfactor?
Calder isn't a track I've raced on before, so was quite fun for me to practice Lap 4 I was in the late 1.03's which was promising for the vovo. Pretty much running my Brno setup. After a few tweaks and changing my my final gear a tiny bit I'm down to a 1:02.8. Ran that consistently for 4-5 laps before I had a to quit. Tis gonna be a manic race!!

here's what I do when i delete a mod.elgibo wrote:Ok...since I wasn't able to run my volvo last round, I'm redownloading and installing tcl again. Is there any set way to uninstall the mod? first of all I install it into a new folder on the desktop, don't forget the 1.1 patch (or find the 1.1 all in one install) and the sound package found on rfcentral.
Then I see exactly whats in that new folder and that will show you exactly what you need to uninstall from rfactor.
After I finish uninstalling everything..... then you can just copy/paste everything in the new folder you made straight to rfactor.
Hope that helps

Perhaps try a seperate install with rfactor lite?
It basically makes TCL its own game

Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
jumped on last nite for first look at this track........in a word boring, bloody hell they must have an off day when designing this one compared to the normally interesting ozzy tracks its not that great but never the less im sure it will provide close racing.
Did a short session and consistently hitting mid 1.02's with a pb of 1.02.2....1.01 in there with a bit more practice and tweaking im sure, not sure id get into the one min flat tho in a class 2
should provide good racing tho im isure

We're using the post '86 version. The original was worse, it was shorter had two less corners and was completely flat.

they must have still been designing tracks not long ago, (cough) boring (cough) queensland raceway (cough)
that being said, just because the track boring doesnt always mean boring racing.

As a point of interest, a couple of enterprising fellas have organised a big karting event for the thunderdome in January 2012....

Its interesting that the combined Thunderdome/road course GP layout was granted FISA World Championship status before it was even completed... the done thing in those days was that a track must have hosted a certain amount of events.

Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
I agree its not the most interesting, but I've found that you really start focusing on your braking points as they come around so quickly. I've managed a 1:02.3, but that was a rare lap Need to do some more tweaking. My front right tyre is on fire every time after a run - 120 degree's!! I should be about for practice tomorrow
Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
I'm now on a completely fresh install on a new drive, all the right downloads and the server still doesn't recognise my 240. Could someone else try it just to see if it still is on my end? No.20 WTCC volvo. Every car works apart from the 240
Re: Rd9 - Calder Park
just tried it and got the same message.
server does not recognize this vehicle etc.
kicked.

just did about 75 laps, went from regular high 1:04s and came down a little.

Ok there seems to be a mod fault with the wtcc 87 volvos, none work even though i have added all volvo to the server.
Run a volvo from a different year mate.
all volvo is opened to the server
