Post Donington
What a night. How'd you all go?
Im gonna make this a positive report.
My replays didnt save again, which is really starting to annoy me.
Never seen Donington before, so i got about 40 laps in before qualifying. Managed to get into 8th spot with 1:06.9
Race one i managed to finish in 6th place.
Race two i got a great start and got by a couple going into T1 managed to make the whole lap, going very well in 3rd or 4th place.
Then on the second last turn of lap one, my car suddenly flipped over and i was sent to the back of the pack. I didnt realise it at the time, but Stevo decided it would be a good idea to ram the crap out of me. Lol.
I spent the rest of the race charging back from 13th spot to try and regain some sort of result. GrpcA lapped me with about 5 minutes to go, so i decided to chase him as hard as i could. I stayed within about 4 - 6 seconds of him passing a couple guys on the way to finishing in 9th place.
After the 17 restarts in race 3 we finally got clear and i was happy to be in 4th? i think behind Berlsy. I managed to stay with him for 2 or 3 laps i think, maybe less.
So i am very happy with that. But i ended up spinning it out the back and fell back down the list again. ARGGGH!!! So frustrating.
I found my self somewhere behind Kakswell, for the remainder of the race i chased him round and round, till he made an error and i got by him on the pit straight.
Butttttttttttt, on the last lap i dropped the Porsche again and he got back by me. Was a super fight with him. Trundled into the finish line in 6th spot.
The Good.
* I'd never seen Donington before and still did reasonably well.
* I chased down, caught and passed people.
* I kept up with great drivers for a few laps.
* Very competitive opponents.
The Bad
* Making too many stupid errors stuffing up what would have been a very good round.
Thanks for the great night guys. Dano really has done well with this series. It's awesome.
Thanks Kakswell for the setup too. The car was flying.

Yeah Peter I think it's the nature of the track last night. We all found the gruntier cars a real handful round here. That's partly why I went for the bmw320. With the capri I found it to be a really difficult balancing act staying on the track whereas the with 320 I was able to drive where I wanted too.
You should find Silverstone a bit more user friendly.

Sorry dudes I was hoping to have the points up by now.
I seem to be unable to connect to SLS at home.
I can from work so I've emailed the logs to my work email so I can do them in the morning.

Re: Post Donington
Tried the "no practice 'til race night" approach.....
Struggled with the faster cars so decided on the Lancia.. (safe option)
Got an awesome set up from Benny........... Had a few good battles in the first 2 races (even with the faster cars)
Got nailed a few laps into race 3, got damage and parked it in the sand on lap 4
What is it with race 3 re-starts?????
Looking forward to Silverstone.....
Cheers Dano for the night

Gentlemen, I really now surprised at Donington Park itself. In a separate training I had always 1:05, x. But every Tuesday in the race dwell worse. It's also the fact that I play quite often and lags. It's a new graphics card driver. If more cars on the track - it is bad. But even so, again, thanks for the courtesy accept excuses. Thank you gentlemen ...
And what awaits us on the mode? Or we go with DRM track Nordscleife?

Dudes!
I'll post a couple of links tomorrow.
I've got the 70s version and the 2007 version.
I prefer the 70s version myself because it's less damaging to the car when you go flying off, which you will do!
I find these cars are too much there, but I haven't tried the mighty 320 there.
Maybe if we ask Benny nicely we can have a night there. but it's either got to wait till after the HQs or be on another night.
Oh and there's one bit you'll hate!
The 7 or 8 minute (probly 6 if your name starts with W) outlap.

I recall, very very vaguely, that there may be a patch that allows for doing the short track as an outlap....

Re: Post Donington
I logged in half an hour early, so that gave me a chance to practice. Quailfied last, by a long way. Took it very easy at the start and passed three cars on the first lap, just by trying to be smooth and steady instead of fast. After a while, i moved over to let a faster car lap me and beached it! Took me three bloody laps to crawl out of the gravel trap. Finished last, three laps down.
Missed race 2 because i was out in the shed, helping a mate to unload his race car that he is storing at my place (no room left in his shed).
Almost missed race 3, heard the field come under starter's orders, ran into the study, jumped in to the car and was a fraction too late, got held in pit lane. I was overjoyed, when it was a restart. I was also happy about the second restart because after a very safe and steady take off, I copped a steel enema from Stevie Wonder and his stuck throttle at turn 1. All the subsequent restarts were a little annoying. Slow and steady start saw me gain 4 places on the first lap, then i just took it steady for the rest of the race and ended up 9th without actually passing anyone.

Cool I'll have a look for the patch.
This backs up Stig's vote for the 2007 version

Dano i reckon we should add The Ring race into the championship... Also whoever takes out the round will be known as the TTR Ringmaster... Could make it an annual thing with different mods!!

Imagine the Ring in TCL or V8s.. DRM would be awesome too (well, the toilet mod would be awesome on the ring) but I foresee many crashes

If everyone drives within themselves and gives The Ring respect, it could be some great racing... Patience will be the key in my book!! Damn i wish i was going to that place again soon... Just thinkin about it gives me goosebumps!!

Re: Post Donington
Yeah that's one place I'd like to check out.
I'm wondering if it should still be 15 minute races as they'll only be 2 or 3 laps each.
I suppose it doesn't really matter too much.
The one thing that will do is extend the night a bit as on most tracks it's about 16 or 17 minutes total including the last lap finish.
Where as here they could potentially be something like 22 minutes long.
I suppose that's not really a big deal.

Maybe Dano we could run a 20min Quali, then 2 x 20min Races ?? That should be quite similar to what we normally run time wise i'd reckon

Woo, the 'schleife in DRMs.
Start practicing now. So we can have a close race with lots of ppl finishing.
its hard with the length, 2 laps isnt enough. But 3 might push it for time.
Id say 3 would be a good number, and have 2 races.
So we are using that linked version up there for sure?

Re: Post Donington
Yep the server is up and it should match the link.
That might be a plan to have a set number of laps rather than time.
But i think yeah 2 races will be good.
I had thought about 1 45min race but i like the idea of having a second chance.
I tested and yes you can just carry on to the end of the short track and start a lap bypassing the massive outlap.
That's good news.
I've got silverstone up too but had a couple of customers on the server within about 2 minutes of it going up.
So i'll leave it on the schleife for now.

Sorry Webber, I went to jump on but the session was closed when I did.
What are the other versions you have Shayn?
This one has the bonus that you can shortcut the outlap.
I did a couple of laps last night and got a bit discouraged till afterwards when I realised I had TC off.
