I'm sure most of us have downloaded mods from here.

Apparently the guy that ran megaupload was arrested here in NZ by nz police.
I don't know if you guys are aware of SOPA and PIPA in the states. But this is all really ****** (less than ideal) and needs to be stopped.

From what I've been reading they actually would have been ok if that's all that happened under "Safe Harbo[u]r" law but they made a truckload of money out of it and openly admitted to handling copyrighted material themselves.
Also they didn't delete material they were alerted to.

There is also a uk student facing extradition for "running a website posting links to pirated TV shows and films".

In the megaupload case and SOPA and PIPA they don't appear to be going after the downloaders, they're just going for the people that are making the downloads available. Although our scummy 3 strikes law targets the downloader and they do that by entrapment.

This is kinda what the big hollywood studios are trying to do, destroy the internet.

The scary part is the us government is willing to take their $160 million and push through poorly wriiten legislature which will be open to abuse . i.e. SOPA

But yeah agreed, everyday kids are starving and dying etc meanwhile hollywood execs are crying because they can only afford a 90ft luxury yacht instead of a 120ft one.

Filesonic has also halted its' filesharing service for the time being, only the uploader can download their own files at the moment.
