Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
Nothing yet as far as i have heard, its getting close to at least a beta release i think.
I'd say it would be a while before there was a complete switch to rf2, it'll take a while for new mods to be made etc...

I read somewhere that rfactor 1 mods will be able to be modified for rfactor2. So at least it shouldn't take too long for some mods to become available.
I'm wondering about system requirements for rfactor2. I'm guessing I may need to a better pc. I need one anyway.

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
The Closest I've seen to a release date announcement from them is someone from rfactor team saying when asked the question about if a beta will be out before christmas to which he responded you will be playing the full blown version before christmas
Saying this have read similar things so many times and tend not to both looking until I read things here and go check it out again. With TCL it was two years from when I found the forum till when it was released.
Saying all this Switching servers won't be a quick and easy thing over to Rfactor 2 as all Australian Based Servers I have delt with the Techincal Support for the Rfactor is pretty much 0 so it may take them a while to make them available and im sure they take the chance to up the prices too. Also guess we will have to switch some servers but not all so we can run both versions of rfactor when ever this actually Happens as we can only run one version on the server

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
Must be getting close if they are realeasing pricing
What is the pricing structure for rF2?
In the USA, rF2 will sell for $43.99. This will allow unlimited access to single player and mod development mode. It will also include one year access to an online account. Additional one year access to the online account can be purchased for $12.99.
Why not simply raise the initial purchase price?
That wouldn’t be fair to those wanting to use only the single player or mod development mode.
What exactly are online services?
Users will be given online accounts from which they can access multiplayer races. This should reduce the number of anonymous race entries and in turn hopefully reduce the number of passworded servers.
The service will identify when updates are available and allow for automatic downloads.
The service provides a way to generate and maintain unique Mod/Package ID’s. This should help reduce the mismatch problem found in the current version of rFactor and also help reduce/eradicate version confusion for the end user.
Additional features such as online statistics are also planned.
What will I be able to do if I don't use online services?
You will be able to run single player, run Mod Mode, and manually find and install any mods or updates.
What is this open beta I have been hearing about?
We plan to release an early content-limited version for mod makers to provide feedback on the system. It will be an open beta, meaning anyone can participate. People wishing to take part will be required to make a full purchase (see pricing info above). We are planning to give those who take part in the open beta 18 months of online access with that purchase rather than the 12 months which will come with purchase after the open beta.
Will you offer refunds during or after the open beta?
If you believe you became a part of the rFactor 2 community too early we can arrange one.

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
getting Closer downloads available now
If anybody wants to get an early start on the content, you can start with these TORRENT files. We will eventually provide HTTP mirrors, but please feel free to seed these over the holidays.
Note: This is the car and track content from rF2. These will be RFMOD files, which are the new content packaging format found in rFactor 2. The rF2 executable is not yet released.

The "features" will be an update and I can't see it costing anymore.....
They are not going to take your $$$ and then want the same for a "full version"

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
Had some issues with computer last night but had a brand new unit I had had picked up for a customer during the day iwt is a I7 with 16 gig of ram and crossfire twin ati 5850 graphics 1gig cards. Fired up the game after purchasing the life time membership only to find with everything wound up a fps of 7
Had a play around with the Cards managed to get it up to around 20 but appears according to there forums that ati graphics cards are a issue
I'll have a look at the spec today and work out what will be needed to get it up and going properly

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
I got this Game mainly because I wanted it but also did it straight away so I could assist people when they get it and give correct advice. So this is my Information so far.
Download off the torrent Wednesday morning pretty quickly less than hour for the main .exe file already had the additional mod files available for the past week. Had to go to work at this point so didn't get it installed which turned out to be to my advantage. I did read during the day there were lots of problems with the amount of people trying to active there product at the same time
]So I asked the question on the ISI forums close to the end of the day about best way not to have issues installing and was advised the PayPal system was the least hassle with far fewer dramas so did it that way and worked perfectly.
Ok so then install the mods worked fine and fired up the game
Left everything as it was and the jumped on the meganes and the FPS was 6 or 7 was pretty annoyed at this point as I don't have the latest computer but above the specs for recommended and way above the Min Spec required. My system is Quad core 2.4 ghz 4 gig ram 1 gig graphics card. Have been having FPS getting slowly worse for the past couple of months and was aware that I had some serious dust build up on the thermal block for the CPU and in the fan for the Graphics card. So decided I just had to clean it out and try the game again. Now if one of my customers bring there computer to me with dust issues I have a policy that I will not do it with them signing a waver.I know the dust will eventually damage the computer I but tipping them up on there side and removing the parts for cleaning can always give you that chance that the dust settles somewhere else and takes out something and you are worse off. Well I should have stuck with my own advice because I was the one in a million chance of it happening and fried the motherboard. Really Not happy now
So after calming down I went out to the car in which I had a brand new I7 2600 with dual ATI 5850 1 gig graphics cards on board running crossfire problem was it is for a customer and I meant to be delivered Thursday. Couple of phone calls letting them know there computer had arrived but was short a part and delivery would have now be Monday and I was up and going.
All installed up windows 7 and reactivated the Game once again very easy no drama's at all with registration.
Ok this computer should do it easy so wound everything up and headed out GOD DAM FPS 7 still WTF did a bit of research and ATI Cards appear to be having issues tried a few things and it improved (mainly taking the settings within the catalysis back to performance instead of Quality) but certainly not to a level was happy with still best was around 40fps. By this time it was pushing 11pm and had well and truly had enough with the day I had been looking forward to for so long and it had become a disaster.
Ok so today read through the forums and have a few things to try and will report back as I make progress.
Ok if I was anyone else just wait a little bit until the gremlins are improved I will report as I make improvements and let you know if when I'm happy with what I have

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
This is to all the sunday guys and management.
I think we will keep with rfactor (original) as long as we can drag it out.
This of course will depend on management on servers etc.
I can't really see the advantage of changing to rf2 for quite some time until the bugs have been fixed and pc's that can run it are affodable for average joe.
at the moment i think we will stick with what we have. original rfactor is terrific, lots of mods and i don't want to rush into things too quickly just for the sake of better looking trees etc.

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
At this stage from a server point of view will will be staying with our current configuration with 3 x RF1 servers and maybe look at getting one RF2 server for members to use once bugs are ironed out and replace one only of the RF1 servers
From a Saturdays point of view there isn't a mod currently available for RF2 that does what we want so we won't be switching any time soon I would think. We follow championships much the same as sundays and tracks and mod development isn't going to happen over night unleashed to upgrade from v8factor took 3 years. I for one certainly need more options than f4 or 5 tracks to run.
As the interest grows and we have members wanting to have a run with it I will certainlly catter for the league with a RF2 Server and running some Tuesdays series (1960's F1 mod does look very good) with it so we can test out when we have enough guys and the mod is suitably reliable, while the other days will remain as RF1 until there is a need or want to switch for the majority of members
I do realise that some people will head off to run the latest games at other leagues which is all good but TCL and V8 Supercars is what this league is built around and it works for most of us here. Until we have a suitable and at least equivalent replacement we won't be switching our weekend racing over.

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
As Mods come out everything will be looked but remember it still only beta version That even after throwing over $1000+ (admittedly forced to) last night to run a pretty high end new computer I was unable to get it running at drivable level. Plus Tman has already indicated that TCL is massive job and unlikely to convert it over

yep i think it will be late year before this can be fully switched over...
and no use running the game with graphics on low that defeats gaming for me. unless can play on max everything i wont play any game... which i can now but sounds like rfactor 2 is causin few dramas for some... and may take months or maybe longer till full version comes out and for all to fully switch over... even upgrading machines some may not be able to right away... just my .23 cents worth lol

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
eh, i dont see any rush to move to rF2.
What we have here is fine. Its great infact.
I would give it a LONG time before trying to go to the newer game.
Make no mistake, i will be getting it when its released properly. But that doesnt make rF and our servers and series obsolete.
No rush.

TTR Benny wrote:At this stage from a server point of view will will be staying with our current configuration with 3 x RF1 servers and maybe look at getting one RF2 server........................TCL and V8 Supercars is what this league is built around and it works for most of us here. Until we have a suitable and at least equivalent replacement we won't be switching our weekend racing over.

Guys... above is the important part...
We are in no rush to drop rFactor and change to RF2 overnight..... yes everyone wants to download it and have a play but thats the only bit we want NOW!
I am pretty sure what Ben wants, is to be up with the play so when members are ready for RF2, so is TTR and therefore members won't disappear to other leagues because "we weren't ready"........................... just my 2 NZ peso worth

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
I stuffed around last night with no joy in getting a fps that is even remotely drivable. Those on Teamspeak would have heard me getting pretty annoyed trying to get it up and going. Decided last night Going to wait and keep and eye on the forum to see what happens before I spend any more time trying to get these ATI cards to work. What makes it hard is the Rfactor 1 had issues with nivida cards rf2 has issues with Ati cards. At the moment and probably for the remaining balance of this year I will be using RF1 far more but if I have to purchase a new box I want to be able have the equipment to switch to RF2 when it has the stuff I want to run available, but in the mean time has to be able to run rf1 properly
Going to Re format and Deliver the customers computer that I purchased for them and will wait a couple of weeks to see what changes and patches come out before purchasing anything for new myself.
Going to try and put something together out of old parts in the shed and build a system over the weekend, so I can continue to race but not 100% if I have enough gear there to build anything to get me up and going. I also have a option on a I7 laptop cheap from one of my customers that switched to a the mac . I was going to buy this one for the wife which might work and give me a option in the mean time and just tell her I'm waiting to hear back about her laptop.
I don't want to risk buying a new desktop system today that is not going to work with RF2 when at worse case hopefully only miss a couple of weeks racing If I can't throw something together why they determain what will and won't work properly.

Just a thought!
Have you been running offline only?
Also are you running with AI? Is it possible/have you tried running with no AI?

Re: RFACTOR 2 is it???
I had a quick browse through the forum, there was a thread asking if the fps problems were being looked at which got a real snarky reply from a developer.
It's probly understandable though cos I'm sure it'll be their number one priority and they'll be feeling pressure over it.
