Mine was pretty fail. But i did zero preparation so i guess i cant complain too much.

Qualified 13 or something disgusting. Should of been about 7th judging by my best time and the final grid.

Race one had some good battles but tyres were gone by lap 12 or so.
Put in too much fuel at the pit stop for some reason. Then second half i had a nice battle with Sublime. Well, when i say battle i mean i was chasing him for 14 laps or so.
Got pretty close at some stages and i think i got within about .300 on one of the straights, but he managed to stay faster and i came 7th. Or 8th.

Race 2 i thought was gonna go ok, now that i had sorted out the pit strategy. Got a super start in all 3 of the restarts and on the proper start i managed to jump into 6th place by turn 3. Some close racing between some guys and some very sneaky/devious/annoying overtaking moves including one that nearly sent me off the end of T2.

Then chasing Kiwi for a while late in the first stint. With tyres completely shot i was closing in on Racer69 who was all over the shop for a change. I think he stacked it out of T3 and i got by with Kiwi in front of me. I followed him into the pits with 1 litre of fuel remaining to find that Kiwi was borrowing my pit box. GRRR!
Not to mention i ran into an invisible wall on the pit entry which was surprising. Then coming out of the pits i rammed another wall that i didnt see and it buggered my front bar and my engine was now yellow. Couldn't keep the car straight enough after then and spun it next lap coming out of T1. Pretty much last, i rammed the stoopid blue car into a run off wall in disgust and went and watched the Hawks lose.

GREAT NIGHT!! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes No No No

Thanks for the setup Benny.

P.s - Can i have my Stratco car back next round? Lol.

P.p.s - Ahh, welcome to all the new people running in V8s, i have no idea who 80% of the people were tonight. But ah yeah, good racing.

Qual in last place but oh well, I was still pleased with my time.

Race 1: Not a good start. Bumped into the back of Dano, sorry Dano. Didn't see him drive off so I just waited still I knew everyone had driven off. Due to people not finishing I ended up in 13th. Can't place if you don't finish so I will take 13th happily.

Race 2: Got a better start. Pitted at the end of lap 15, same as in race 1. Lap 16 I hit the concrete column, the end left one, finally came back on the track just past the next turn, facing the right way and could keep going. No pit required, no positions lost. That was class without the cl. Finished 11th.

Really enjoyed driving. Thanks to all.

Wow what a night a track like this there could have easily been some serious carnage but was super impressed with the respect given to other competitors in the concrete jungle.

Qual got a little luckly nugget dropped out at the start of qual giving him half a session to get a lap down. I didn't manage a pb but a pretty good time and strong enough for pole again two in the series now pretty happy with that

Race one
Got a shocker and dropped two spots. Although I had great pace in practice the lap times I was achieving in qual werent possible in the race if you wanted the tyre to last. I had planed a single stop and plodded along at my pre practiced race pace. I was comfortable follow pod253 in the early stages as I watched his car slide were and there I was pretty confident the two laps before the stop I would have better tyres when they drop of around lap 13 to be able to get past then. Right on cue lap 13 tyres were shot I made the move down into turn but got the right wheel hooked up on the curb and pulled me completely off the track.

After the stops I had to push really hard to close down the 4 seconds I had lost prior to the stop. This was extremely difficult as we were both lapping at a supe quick speed. This required me to use my Tyres up and by the time pod253 made a mistake and let me through my tyres were completely shot. From here it was on at one stage going side by side from turn 5 all the way to the end of the lap without a single touch. This all been done with 2.5 red dots left on Paul's tyres and one left on mine so can imagine how slippery the cars were at this point. I managed to hold on even with a good pace at turn 6 by pod253 buy was able to duck back under heading around the outside at 7 and having the line for the final couple of corners

So happy with my first specially with how hard pod253 made me work for it.

Race 2
Got a really good start and thanks I think to a little pressure from racer69 on Paul I was able to pull a one second gap which gave me to room to drive the car how I wanted. At the same point as race one when the tyres start to go off I had a little more speed and by the stops pulled a handy lead on Pod253 who put up a fantastic performance in for the night. the only reason I managed to win was with a little better tyre wear allowing me to make a break during this cycles in the race

Came home and lapped up to 5th place I think which It was pretty Impressed with that

Qualified 4th bounce

Race 1
Got a reasonable start and settled into 5th behind racer69 and with peter308 behind me....
Then spun on turn 3 lap 5 after catching the inside ripple strip. Re-joined 10th.
Climbed back up to 7th by the time I pitted on lap 15. Came out from the pits right behind Powerslave and chased him until I sneaked past turn 1 lap 22.
Very happy with 4th bounce bounce

Race 2
Not a bad start again but ended up 7th after some cold tyre "incidents"... Got by racer and shayn on lap 14 when I was up the inside of shayn and racer was struggling with tyres and had a moment. Was in 3rd when I pitted on lap 15 again. Came back out in 3rd and apart from Shazam letting me past on lap 16 I didn't see another car until the finish.... Shocked
Stoked with 3rd place.. bounce bounce bounce

A great night's racing and as Benny said, was good to see how clean the racing was. With a mix of older members, newer members and visitors i would have expected a lot more carnage.... Well done all!!!!

Yea thanks all what a night of racing.... I think I'm still sweating....

Qually was well below what I was able to do and ended up 10th

Race1 got a great start made up a few spots, 1st stint I raced clean and fast and managed to end up in 3rd some how and was pretty happy Kiwi as he said pushed me hard to hold my spot and the nerves kicked in when I looked up and the numbers didnt have me finishing the race on fuel. I had to back off a bit to make sure I got the car over the line and I did. Happy With That..

Race 2 well this one I would love to forget....
was going ok in the pack with Nuck & Sublime, Sub stoped first then Nuck and I stayed out for one more, I knew this would not put me I front of them but hopefully leave me with slightly better tires at the end... as I came around pit exit..... There it was car wedged between the walls and no way out, buy the time I got out of pit lane it was too late and the cars in front of me where too far in front I pushed as hard as I could but close to the end spun on the last lap and droped a couple more places..

I guess 8th is better then DNF and all in all really happy with the improvments made since the last round at Tassie...

Cheers again fellas this is a great series..

What a night, my first race night with TTR and I was nervous not to punt anyone off track or make any stupid mistakes.

Qually - Was a blur , all Iremember is "what the hell am I doing up the top end with only 1 min to go? a lot of guys must not have got a good run.

Race 1 - Got a really good start and saw Tas just leave me, I had no chance...lol, but just nuckled down to have a fun drive and not push my tyres too much, could see benny coming in from behind and pretty quick!....he had a mistake on turn 1 or 2 and got stuck on the ripple strip. Had a pretty deasent pit and come out with just saving tyres in mind and not setting and lap records.lol. But low and behold there was benny pushing at the right time to pounce, my tyres were shot at the end and he had passed me , but it was close with benny and I going side by side , turn by turn, oh my got it was tight!.....lovin it. Good on ya benny........great race one!.........also if anyone has a copy of race one can u put it up as mine didnt save.....pc froze.......cheers. Finished 2nd

Race 2 - Had a good start again but I think it was racer69? was pushing hard and it took a lot to fend him off........racer69 was fast in the early part of race 2. Had to really conserve tyres as they were shot by lap9 and I was sliding everywhere, had no chance at catching benny, too fast for me mate. Pitted and thought , of course "save tyres" but same thing agan........they went off really quick?......Finished 2nd

Was really happy about my result and the racers here are clean as !

Again, if anyone has a copy of race 1 can it be sent to me?.............dont even know if it can be done?

Cheers Paul

Thanks webber Not intending on flying just been playing it smarter planing, looking after tyres during a race and with doing that it has actually gained some pretty big speed increases over the event, but the only think i have been conctrating on is consistent speed which got me the win at Tasmania

Post Race - Hamilton Empty Re: Post Race - Hamilton

Post by racer69 4/23/2012, 5:45 pm

I had a great night on Saturday night, firstly thanks for putting the race on.

I had a night 'off' so to speak to i was able to join in. Benny gave me a setup which was right on the money and i started getting back used to driving the old Triple F VIP Falcon.

Once i learned the track abit more (took me ages to get used to it the previous week on TCL) i found myself quite liking it, and when qualifying came i was pleased with 8th fastest time.

Race 1 - I got a fantastic start and came out of the first few corners in 4th place. I sort of stayed in touch with Benny early on and was pulling away from the cars behind, and my 4th became 3rd when ADF-Nugget dropped out. I was about 8-10secs behind POD & Benny and 5 or so seconds infront of Peter308 after 10 laps...and then a found out how quickly the tyres drop away. Peter closed up on me in no time and on lap 14 he found a way past with me barely being able to turn the car with my tyres shot. I pitted immediatly and raced home. The way the pitstops worked out i was comfortably in third and sort of in the middle of nowhere, so settled for third place. Kiwi was getting close towards the end but i managed to hold on for a very happy 3rd place.

Race 2 - I got a good start and held third, and then pressure POD for the first 5 or so laps. I pushed my tyres too hard though and before long i was losing alot of time with my tyres gone, with Shayn & Kiwi crawling all over me. I'm sorry for being so slow in places guys, i was trying to hold on. In the end my rears were toast so i coasted round on lap 14 for a pitstop. I pitted and ended up 7th when it all shook out, chasing Peter308 hard. He wouldn't give in though and we were very evenly matched, it was a big shame when i think his computer cried enough, which left me to come home in 6th place.

All in all very happy with the results and had a ball.... i've just got to learn to treat the tyres better (i have the same problem in TCL lol)
