COMPUTERS - TECH TALK AND BUILDS
since my old pc is rooted ive been looking around at building my new machine.
heres some of the bits im looking at as i hopefully can utilise my old graphics card to save some initial funds.
CPU - AMD FX8350 - $237
M/B- Gigabyte A990 FX - $180
RAM - 16gb DDR3 - $159
HD – 2TB HD Seagate - $95 – cant remember if it was solid state or not, will check.
PSU – Antec HCG750W - $148
CASE - Antec 900 two v3 - $145
i'll be utilising my GTX560 with this setup and get a new graphics card when the new ones drop in price
These prices are from go comp and the HD price is from umart.
Go comp was usually the cheapest by a few dollars in comparison to MSY and Umart.
Anyone else building up or upgrading bits on their computers?

I doubt the 2TB hard drive would be SSD...not at that price!!!aus_chrisrx wrote:since my old pc is rooted ive been looking around at building my new machine.

Do you need 16gb Ram? (Unless you are doing some high graphical work).
I only have 8gb and (did) have a GTX560 card and it ran everything fine. (Crysis 3, Battlefield 3 etc).

I'm not 100% sure...but isn't RF2 more CPU intensive?aus_chrisrx wrote:looking at running rf2 as well so yeah i'll take the extra ram.

Re: COMPUTERS - TECH TALK AND BUILDS
I just put some new parts in my sim pc.
Sim PC specs:
CPU: i5-4430 3ghz 6MB Cache, LGA1150
M/B: GIGABYTE- GA-H87M-D3H
Ram: 16gb (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz
SSD: Samsung 840 series 250GB (for boot/OS drive)
HDD: Western Digital 500GB Velociraptor 64mb sata 3 - 10,000rpm (for games)
GPU: GIGABYTE- GeForce 2GB GTX650 TI OC Version
PSU: Silverstone 450watt SFX Form Factor (80+ Gold)
Bought all my parts from: http://www.cplonline.com.au/
Also used this site: http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp
to find out what size power supply I needed and I dont over clock so 450watt was bigger that that site suggested.
When pc is at idle power supply sits around 55watts, so is very efficient.
Go 2x 8GB sticks if your going 16GB and get a quality power supply, the one you have chosen should be good.

Re: COMPUTERS - TECH TALK AND BUILDS
I updated my GTX760 to a GTX970 about 8 months ago and i'm happy with that. The 760 over clock edition ran everything OK with no issues. (I updated the card for GTA5)

Re: COMPUTERS - TECH TALK AND BUILDS
Just upgrade my SIM PC again, had been about 3 years since I last did as you can see in my post above.
Specs:
CPU: i5-6600K (Unlocked) 3.5ghz 6MB Cache, LGA1151
M/B: GIGABYTE- Z170N-Gaming 5, LGA1151
Ram: 16gb (2x8GB) G.Skill DDR4-2400mhz Dual Channel Ripjaw V Blazing Red
GPU: GIGABYTE- Nvdia GeForce GTX1070 G1 Gaming 8G
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO series 250GB (for boot/OS drive)
HDD: (My HDD from last build) Western Digital 500GB Velociraptor 64mb sata 3 - 10,000rpm (Rfactor & other games)
PSU: Thermaltake TP-750M 750watt TougHPower (80+ Gold)
Case: Thermaltake Suppressor F1 Mini Decktop
I also bought a new monitor, well its a T.V that I'm using as a monitor:
Panasonic Viera TH-40DX600U 40" 4K UHD Smart LED LCD TV
I've built the PC and have the OS running, which is Windows 7.
I spent a bit time researching how to set windows up for the SSD for minimal writes.
I have the new monitor hooked up to my old sim PC and it looks amazing !!
Cant wait to get the new PC on it and try out rF2 again.
