Re: Round 10 - Silverstone Tourist Trophy (October 27)
have to say it.... after the 2hrs of Spa, this track is such an anti climax haha. soooo straight and wide even the chicane onto the straight doesnt require any left turn if ya hit it right

Same problem here...aus_chrisrx wrote:anyone able to reupload the track as the link doesnt have all the track files in it.
I don't know what is on the server but version Silverstone 1979 version 2.2 is here.
http://www.nogripracing.com/details.php?filenr=18061
Edit: Version 2.2 is much better at the chicane onto the front start/finish straight. It makes you slow down and take it correctly instead of straight lining it!
Love the version of the track though. It reminds me of the good old GPL days...

Still having problems connecting to the server. It says I have a track issue. Can we have a download link please?
I have tried Silverstone 1979 version 2.0, version 2.2 and now version 2.5 with the same error message. The 1988 version doesn't seem to work either...

This link is the only one that works on that page:
http://www.rfactorcentral.com/dloader.cfm?dlID=422A05F6-CCF6-A154-62B0551B5834D0C2
Its not where I got it from, but its version 2.0.

Anyone having issued joining, I had 5 x .GMT files in the 09_Silverstone folder. I deleted these and it worked.

Re: Round 10 - Silverstone Tourist Trophy (October 27)
Logged in for my first practice session, twenty minutes before qually started, got straight in, no track loading issues, lucky!
Loaded my Hockenheim set-up, didn't need fifth gear and it understeered badly, so softer front bar, softer front springs and shorter diff. Presto, I'm within 5s of pole. (Hey that's good, for me!)
Pulled out a blinder in qually (by my standards) and got within 3s of pole, 9th in a grid of 13. Game on!
Got a very good start, but cautious into turn 1, it's a long race and still in 9th exiting Copse, when Growler spun off all by himself, due to a lack of talent or oil on the tyres and Dean stopped to render assistance, how nice!
I'm stopping for no one, i'm 7th now and loving it. For the next 3 laps, i'm still in 7th place and I can still see the quick guys in front of me. How good is this.
Then it happened. Growler took advantage of my inability to multi-task and started a conversation. I took all of 2 seconds to spear off at Chapel and get stuck into some circle work.
I rejoined in 9th and that was that. I never really raced anyone else for the rest of the night. I just concentrated on staying out of trouble and maximising my stints. 18 laps out of each fill and every time i came in, i had one litre in the tank. I also crossed the finish line with one litre left.
I really like this track. Fast and flowing.

Now that made me laugh...even if you got the "me spinning by myself" all wrong...David Paterson wrote:Logged in for my first practice session, twenty minutes before qually started, got straight in, no track loading issues, lucky!

Re: Round 10 - Silverstone Tourist Trophy (October 27)
hahahaha, i spun which left cd all on his own, would have been a good little volvo on volvo battle but being on the soft soft combo in the first stint i thought i may have been able to take it a little more to the commos. the undercut worked on first stint and then racer had some issues as it was shaping up to be a good battle but then he lost alot of time, is the beema really hard on the tyres like pre season testing showed me?

Re: Round 10 - Silverstone Tourist Trophy (October 27)
It is abit hard on tyres but they are manageable....my problem in this race was firstly i made a few mistakes early on running wide on a few corners which dropped me from 3rd back to 6th.aus_chrisrx wrote: the undercut worked on first stint and then racer had some issues as it was shaping up to be a good battle but then he lost alot of time, is the beema really hard on the tyres like pre season testing showed me?
The way my fuel burn was working out, it looked like i could go the longest on a stint, but unfortunatly i had timed it too perfectly... the car coughed on the pit entry as i expected, but i scrubbed off too much speed entering the pits andd stopped short of my pitbox.....i thought i was out of the race then and there....after a few mins kicking myself and getting ready to escape i happened to just put my foot on the acceloratar with the car in neutral and it started gradually creeping....which allowed me to eventually make my pit bay and carry on, albeit it a few laps down by then, so just cruised home.
A shame because the week before at Spa i couldn't see during the night so on a planned pitstop i started adjusting my brightness which took an extra minute or two.... i drove out of the pits to find the sun was starting to rise again........ i prefer the longer races but they seem to not like me, lol

I had a pretty good night at Silverstone, mistake free. I'd done some qually runs and full stint race runs in practice, so I ws confident I was well setup for this Round.
Qualified 3rd with a PB 31.0.
I got a half reasonable jump at the start and ran in the Top 5 in the early laps. I thought the Volvo's might have had something for the Commodores at this track, but Corty and Webber were far too strong and drove great races. Chris nailed me under braking into the last chicane and I didn't bother fighting so early in the race, just paced myself in the high 31's behind him for a few laps until he spun. Fez was strong early chasing me down, but must have had some dramas. I was on a Hard/Hard strategy the whole race which worked pretty well I think, all I really needed to do was tweak the brake bias, keep the thing on the road and concentrate on not losing momentum. My pace was pretty good too, got a 31.1 out if it in race trim and could stay in the 31's for most of the race. I could see Racer69 was having drama with a few extra pit stops which was a shame because he's been quick all year in the BMW.
In the end, Webber came back to me a bit - I'm unsure whether he was fuel saving or made a couple of errors and I finished about 9 seconds behind him in 3rd. I was hoping the Commodores might have to make an extra stop for fuel, but they brought them home well.
Can't say I'm looking forward to Nogaro much, I cut a few practice laps last night and I reckon it's a Mercedes circuit, big time....

Re: Round 10 - Silverstone Tourist Trophy (October 27)
GREAT locking of horns with Corty, he got the better this time! Didn't realise daylight savings had started, so turned up in time to do 5 or so laps of practice, got the usual good qualy lap and ripper start, but immediately Corty was nipping at the back bumper.
Rooted my race with fuel strategy - pitted one too many times, so that was game over unfortunately.
Then, catching DP at the chicane, I zigged and he also zigged... creamed him up the clacker, I felt terrible. But managed to prod his mobile in the right direction, and fortunately he didn't lose any spots from it. Great showing this weekend DP. Enjoyed following you to the finish.
