Re: Round 1 Calder Park
So, 1 week out from the opening round of the championship
How has everyone been going in pre-season testing around Calder? My best so far is a 1m01.2s. Looking forward to some close racing
The 1988 Calder race isn't on Youtube, so as a pre-curser here is a link for the 1985 Calder ATCC round, its the older track layout, but its a race that is rated by many as perhaps the best race in the 50 year history of the ATCC
Enjoy!

Only been in the 01's once, so i dont expect to go that quick again, lol.

That is sizzling stuff Racer!!
So many great drives but the best surely is Alan Jones caining that GTV6 around like nobody's business!
Highlight has to be Dicky Johnson having some casual, relaxed banter as if he were off to the beach for the weekend, meanwhile driving the absolute wheels off the mustang.
Great to see a Bob Holden Corolla there too DP
I might jump on for some praccy in a couple minutes,

Ha that's nothing compared to Bristol(NASCAR) circuit!
Last time I tried this track I got a headache and I had to hop off my computer for about 3 hours

Got back under 1:02 YEWWWW!
1:01.995 with 112L on Hards.
Im happy now lol, and getting consistent low 1:02s in race setup.
Although, GrpC was doing similar times in the M3
Srsly hope he was on Softs with like 11L in the tank.
But i doubt it.

Re: Round 1 Calder Park
In practice for Calder in a previous series in the BMW was able to achieve a few 1m02's but in race trim over the distance best I could get was 1m03's i did these quicker times on mediums mid load of fuel trying to keep up with a certain driver who was running sub one minutes in a non walkinshaw vl. The killer for me in the BMW was the straight you could come on to the straight with .750 lead over the skyline and he would have you before the braking zone. The vl's would as well but those skylines had great stable braking and I found they could nearly match the BMW through the braking zone

Re: Round 1 Calder Park
Have managed a few sub 1 mins in the rs and a pb of 59.5...never got near it again so must have been some sort of fluke
running low 1.01's on race setup and can hold it through the distance without to much wear so im happy with that, not had a lot of chance to practice as my pc has been in bits, now back up again with my new graphics card and eyefinity triple monitors......yoo hoo for tax refunds and a VERY understanding missis

Re: Round 1 Calder Park
Nice one Shayn i wet myself when i clicked on the link.......if only i could afford a setup like that
To anyone thinking of going 3 screen DO IT its awesome if u have the room, and i can also reccomend the aoc LED monitors very impressive compaired to the old lcd tech and now cheap as chips,
my only comments about running 3 screens would be it takes a while to get ur head round the extra sensation of speed....there is a lot more and it kinda makes u feel a bit queezy 1st of all......well it did me and i couldnt hit an apex for love nor money at first either

Re: Round 1 Calder Park
So i won a 1/25th serious practice race in the R31.
There were some extenuating factors:
It was only 15 minutes long.
There was 6 drivers.
Most of the cars gave up on lap 8 after spinning out.
I was leading when they gave up, and was the only car to finish.
BUT i still won, lol. First and last time i win a race im guessing. But ill take it.
Cant wait for sunday, gonna be a blast hopefully.

there is an old saying.....to finish first, first u must finish.
hey IM SURE it wont be your last win, the commitment and practice u give TCL, its only a matter of time b4 u master it, look at how uv improved in the last few months mate.
And at the end of the day as long as u enjoy ur new hobby thats the main thing,

Steven Bradbury's gold medal looks just like all the other gold medals, it's just as big and made of the same stuff.

hehe, very Bradbury, i was there when everyone fell over and gave up.
No, but in all seriousness, i dont expect to do as well as most people, the main thing is improving. If i can get even a little better, then it'll be a win.
Took some pics of flying cars over the week:

it was a hard slog to get them though, me and webber cut eachothers times by about .100 every few laps, he got a 59.780 or something i was +.168 with half the lap on the grass down the main straight

Re: Round 1 Calder Park
Hey All,
Sorry, but it looks as though I won't be able to race this series afterall!!!
Life & work are getting in the way at the moment so its unlikely I'll make it to many
races. Not happy, but can't be helped.
If anyone wants/needs the Meidieke Sierra they're welcome to it. If I do make the odd
race I'll just grab what's available.
I'm dissappointed as I was really looking forward to this series. I hope to see youse on track soon,
fingers crossed.
Cheers

Hey Obbzy that's a massive shame. The series is shaping up to be a great one but of course real life always comes first. Hope you manage OK and we'd love to have you along if you're ever free.

Yeah for sure, that sucks Obbzy. You'll be missed man.
Stoopid life, getting in the way of rFactor. The people racing, make the series what it is.
*sighs*
Hope we dont lose too many. Lol.
BTW, got a 1:01.600 on Hards and and 40L. Best yet. Yew!

Hey guys Have made the move and setup new desk and might try and have a run with you tonight.
Still waiting for internet so have hooked up computer to iphone and I'll see how it goes. I'll try and get on when there is a few on after 6 tonight and If someone can take five to follow me to make sure I don't have warping issues. im getting a ping of around 115 so I think I'll be ok but would like to test pre race to make sure I'm not going to be a problem for anyone.

Hey guys.
Just jumping on quickly to wish all of you all the best in the first round of the season.
It's gonna be a cracker and yeh, I am shattered to not be able to run in it... Hopefully I'll get the last race in or something, but it's not looking great ATM.
And if Wobbz gets back from the movies, will someone give him a nudge for me! :-D
Have fun fellas!

Sure you'll be fine Ben...
OK server will be rebooted with password at around 7pm tonight. This has been done to ensure the best quality racing that we can supply.
PW is ttrfun.
As mentioned before this will be the closest to real length races we have tried as each race apart from endurance rounds was of the 1 hour duraton.
expecting around 58 laps tonight and don't forget to adjust fuel for formation lap.
Best of luck all and I hope you enjoy the Trans Tasman Rivals reincarnation of the 1988 ATCC and enduro's
