Welcome to the Touring Car Legends forum!
Hello fellow friends of Touring Car Racing at its best!
First of all a bit of history:
There are many nations with many championships in the world of touring car racing. Today every Championship does it's own rules, no car from one championship can be used in a different one without modifications. But there has been a time when the biggest Championships and some of the most famous races all followed one set of rules: The Group A reglement.
First introduced by the FIA in the 1982 European Touring Car Championship which ran until 1988
The British Saloon Car Championship, which turned into the BTCC in 1986, used the group A ruleset from 1983 to 1990
The German DTM from 1984 to 1992, using weights penalties for the bigger cars to achieve a "classless" championship
The Australian ATCC already allowed the Group A cars in the 1984 Bathurst 1000 race, and did the full switch to the new rules for the 1985 season and keeping them until 1992
The Japanese JTCC ran them from 1985 to 1993
The FIA even introduced a World Championship for Touring Cars in 1987 which had races on 3 continents but sadly was cancelled after one season
Group A cars ran in the 24h of Spa, the 24h Nürburgring, the Macau Guia Race, the Wellington 500, various european championships - even the french adopted the rules for a while, they usually had their own mind regarding touring cars.
There were Volvos in Australia, Holdens in the UK, Toyotas in Germany, Mercedes in Japan and Jaguars in New Zealand. Teams could build up or buy a car and enter it all over the globe. That resulted in big, colorful starting grids and that is what Touring Car Legends is all about.
About the mod:
The original release of Touring Car Legends includes the years from 1986-1989 and the following cars:
Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evoluzione
BMW 635CSi
BMW M3
Ford Escort RS1600i
Ford Escort RS Turbo
Ford Mustang
Ford Sierra RS Cosworth
Ford Sierra RS500
Holden Commodore VK (1986 version)
Holden Commodore VL HDT
Holden Commodore VL TWR
Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3 16v
Nissan Skyline GTS-R R31
Rover Vitesse SD1 (1986 version)
Toyota Corolla AE86 (aka. Levin/Sprinter/etc.)
Toyota Corolla GT AE86 (the european version)
Toyota Supra MA70
Volvo 240 Turbo
further cars that made it ingame:
Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV6
BMW M3 Sport Evolution
Ford Escort XR3i
Jaguar XJS
Maserati Biturbo
MG Metro Turbo
Mitsubishi Starion (Grp. A)
Mitsubishi Starion (1990 2L version)
Nissan Skyline GT-R R32
Rover Vitesse SD1 (pre '86 model) - included in the BTCC pack 1
other cars that were started but never made it into the game:
Chevrolet Camaro
Ford XR4Ti
Volkswagen Golf GTi Mk.2
So now you know what we have and what we don't.
I'd like to point out that I am not planning on releasing big updates for the mod, as at the moment I am working on this on my own. I am still in contact with some of the other old members of the TCL Team, so they might lend me a hand from time to time, whenever they feel like it. There will be various carsets - including new liveries for exsisting cars. Working towards a full scale release has been to much for me, as most people just keep nagging about a release date when the mod is in the works and complaining after its out. I won't set myself under pressure and will paint more cars as time allows it (I got a lot of time to waste...) so you might call it "Casual Modding".
I am always interested in your opinions on how to improve things. If you're willing to offer your talents, may it be as a painter, modeller, doing sounds or whatever - drop me a line. Any help is appreciated!
Thats it for now.
Hope you enjoy your stay in the official TCL forum here at TTR Racing

Re: Welcome to the Touring Car Legends forum!
I am really keen to see the Starion, Jaguar, Alfa GTV & R32 released. A good friend races the Xerox Shop Starion in the Australian Historic Group A series. The '85 & '92 Bathurst winners also race in the same series, as well as the '92 Sandown 500 winner and the third placed car from Bathurst '87.

Re: Welcome to the Touring Car Legends forum!
Hi Guys
I am new to the forum and it looks great, I want to get involved in Online racing the TCL cars also.
With the offline racing I would love to get any real cars available.
Is there anyway to get these cars like the XJS and others.
Also has anyone ever made a earlier Jimmy Richards JPS 635i that had the huge Wheel guards on the cars I think it was from 1985 maybe or even 84.
If someone wanted to build this car I would pay to have this in my private racing collection.
Any add ons would be so much appriciated.
Thanks
Addam

Hi Addam. Currently @ TTR on Sunday nights we have one round left of DTM87.
Following that it's time to pit the HDT VL against the Volvo at some of the highest ranking tracks for rfactor.
Also on Sunday nights one week before the real V8 Supercar rounds we are running using the same tracks with either 1/3 or 1/4th distance of the real events. These are with ATCC cars.
Thursday nights before the real WTCC rounds we are using the same tracks for our TCL WTCC series with full length events.
Also copying ETCC with TCL cars.

Re: Welcome to the Touring Car Legends forum!
Almost forgot to mention our special Easter event which is the entire 2011 Carline 300 round. real time practice and qualifying sessions as well as full lap races.
Can use your favourite car from that era from TCL in our event.

The XJS has not been releasd yet, there is still a lot of work to be done.
The JPS 635 with flared guards that raced from 1981 to 1984 was built to Australian Group C regs, not Group A, so it is not inclucled in TCL.

Re: Welcome to the Touring Car Legends forum!
Does anyone have any real TCL skins they would want to send me by any chance.
I am after any car or skin that was used during any season.
I am happy to pay for them or make a donation here.

Re: Welcome to the Touring Car Legends forum!
Tcl Is full of all Real Skins ranging from 1985 to 1990 we can build other skins for you but not the 3D models a don't think Group C cars (ie the Early BMW with the Flares) will be built anytime soon.
Regarding Racing Tomorrow Saturday and then Sunday again. There is two TCL races in the afternoon and then a V8 NZ Supertourers race Tomorrow night
Tuesdays races are currently a Nascar Series at Wakins Glen this Week
