Re: Pre Brno rants
Ugh. You guys punching out the laps already???
In other news. I've run on this track in Race07/GTR-E/Race-On, didn't like it then, and I don't like it now... Neither does my Merc, to be honest!
Edit - I keep getting "Join Timed Out" when trying to jump on the praccy server. It was alright until last night when I was D/C'd and then couldn't jump back in for the same reason. I've re-installed the track and stuff.... Any suggestions for Captain Simple here?

Re: Pre Brno rants
Did a few laps last night with the trusty Alfa Turbo.
PB so far is a 2m13.6 but there should be a little more improvement on that in qual trim as I was running hards & race fuel.
Sorry Mozza, can't help you with the kick thing. oh, you didn't have previous version in there before you installed it?

Was on last night with Mozza, Wobblyone and Shayn.
Best lap time was in the 2:14s I think. 2:15 maybe. A second can come off that as I learn the track though - hopefully.
Mozza, try resetting your internet modem to get a new IP.

Thanks Webber. I tried that, and combined with a few choice words of abuse, it seems to have worked
WobblyOne and I are trying to convince another mate to jump in and at least have a praccy with us, so he can meet some of you guys and see how friendly this series really is. He's umm'ing and ahhh'ing so I thought I'd try and seal the deal with a skin for him... We'll see if it works!!

Re: Pre Brno rants
had a go on this track today. its ok but square wide left and rights are a tad boring.
got a 2.13.5 this track is very setup dependent. whereas spa and dijon you could have a crappy setup but the line was the most important thing

Re: Pre Brno rants
Ok, so this time I've managed to have a little bit of preparation lappage. Really want to learn to get a better setup. I've done a 2:16.1 or something like that offline. Managed a 2:16.7 on the server. Ugh. Looking at the above times thats not too good
I know I ask every time, but would someone mind doing a quick setup for me so I can look at what I'm doing wrong? So many long corners!!! Here's my current setup.....don't laugh if its rubbish! Just need some pointers, as I am still very much learning how to do them. Only ever really changed the tyres to soft, revs to max and anti roll bars to slightly more oversteery before I started racing with you guys - but then again I was only really racing against the AI!. Much appreciated if you have a mo to have a go with it. Hopefully one day soon I will stop having to ask.

Re: Pre Brno rants
just a query guys/admin.....i know u pick ur car for the season etc, but is it frowned upon if i was to change class for a meeting just to see if i prefer class 1? obviously my class 2 points stay the same and gaining any class 1 points wont really make any odds...but after testing a few cars tonight i quite fancy trying it with the big boys if ok, as i didnt really play test the mod b4 choosing class/car and id like to try something else in race conditions to decide whether i stick with class 2 or not....no drama either way here tho

Ventrilo
I read that you guys use Ventrilo when racing.
I re-installed it only to find the Ventrilo server completely bare during race night & also practice nights.
Does anyone actually use it?

at the moment on Sundays I personally don't use it due to lack of finances to buy a decent headset..
However I encourage everyone that does to use it and also management of TTR would also like us to use it.
Shaz and I have to move in December and fully stock a house as I didn't have much and Shazam lost a lot of stuff in the flood.
This along with maybe a couple of silly car choices have led to Shaz and I being stretched ATM. I will get a headset when all settles down.
Along with the above I am looking at Australia based servers which are a bit more expensive than the current Prac server. However, I believe I have found what is looking promising ... A Sydney based server which may or may not have more support than the current server that the rest of TTR uses.
Primary Target is their name and when the pay goes in the bank I will be looking seriously into it as our current prac server based in Dallas hasen't sent me an invoice for next month that is due tommorrow.

Good, get out of Group 2, ya cheat!
I haven't seen the No. 18 Shell Sierra on track, only the No. 17. Perhaps try that one.
Oh, and there is a car selections thread too. lol
But I'm sure Wally will see this and make the relevant corrections!

Re: Pre Brno rants
so.
i was going around Brno not getting very far, even with help from Mozza and Wobbly, who both are VERY fast drivers.
best i could manage around the course was a 2:20 or so.
so i went and bought a wheel, yep, i got one. Now i have no more xcuses. lols. picked up a Logitech DrivingForceGT for 140 bux at JBHIFI.
so far, im pretty impressed with it, and for the money, it seems very good value.
had about 6 or so hours on it so far, and still getting used to how the car works under its control. its alot different to the PS3 remote.
Was online in the Prac server with, Wobbz, Mozz, Webber, Dano, BillyBob, Gibson and some others, for a few hours tonight, getting regular 2:20s or so.
Then i took Wobbly and Mozza's advice a little more seriously and took my time around the track and relaxed into it a little.
My last 3 laps were in the 2:17s tonight.
So id say im fair happy with the wheel, cos in my first decent nite's running with the DFGT, i've managed to chop 3 seconds off my time.
Will i beat the 10.9 that Webber laid down tonight? I dont think so. But if i can get in the 15s ill be fair happy. Seeing that a brilliant driver like Wobbly can push the M3 into a 2:13.1 at Brno.
thanks for all the advice from you guys, lots of great help.
btw, i dont intentionally fish for sympathy, lol, just get frustrated easily.
Looking forward to Sunday Night.
Happy Racing.
i know its just 2:17, but i was happy with it. after constant 20/21s

Re: Pre Brno rants
Hey well done dude, seriously.....to knock 3 seconds of your controller time first night is really impressive, well done shayn. Like we said on the server it wont come overnight but just focus on braking lines entry exit etc and the time will come...its more about focus than aggression....when u get the lines and times down then u can be aggressive to get the super quali times......but it does take a long time and a lot of miles under ur belt, you will be suprised how quickly the times will keep dropping when it clicks,
by the way talking of frustration etc....like i said to u the other night just enjoy it as someone will always be faster, I thought i was going well in the cossie and was pleased as punch to pull a 12 dead, then webber jumps on in one and pulls a 10.9.....
Anway least i beat mozz with a 12.8 in the m3

Re: Pre Brno rants
Yeh but, Wobbly, we've already established that you've got a cheat that you downloaded from some obscure Russian website...
So I'm down to a maybe on Sunday night. It depends on how stiff and sore I'll be after a day of bouncing around in a fibreglass seat. Fingers crossed!
Shayne - Like wobbly said, focus and concentration is what the Group 2 cars are about. The moment you start to lose it, is the moment you get slower cos you're pushing TOO hard. It'll probably get easier at the next round because you won't have done any laps with the PS3 control and will be able to learn your line with the wheel straight up. Well done on the 2:17 though. We'll make a Hamilton out of you yet!

Re: Pre Brno rants
I expect to have an epic battle with you shayn
Was on the practice server as well. Tried out most of the cars which was interesting. Loaded the volvo back up but forgot to load my setup, then went and set my fastest time with the defaults! Oh dear!!! Sooo started with a new setup and with some helpful clarification from webber, managed to get a 15.6! Woop. After that, I beat my first sector time constantly, but never got the rest of the lap together. Reckon with some luck and consistency I'll be running mid 16's for the race. We shall see. Weirdly out of all the cars I tried - the rover was the most fun! No idea why.....if only it was a little faster, the track is perfectly suited for it I think or at least with my driving style anyways.
Really nice improvement shayn! I'm sure we'll see even faster times from you on race day! I always seem to beat my quali time at somepoint during the race.

Well done Shayne,
that's one less back marker I'll be driving around with (it's starting to get lonely back there ).
With a wheel you'll be able to concentrate on your racing a lot more (the Driving Force is a
really good, cheap, wheel & the FFB isn't bad at all so you'll get a lot better 'feel' for the
conditions).
Catch ya (well I probably won't now!!! lol) on track tonight.
Cheers

Car Change
I'm totally not having fun in the VK (too annoyingly difficult to setup, I can jump in a
stock M3 and get the same times, and I don't have the time to work on setups much now) I thought I'd have a go at the Alfa.
#77 Tarquini/Drovandi
Don't care about loss of points, don't have many to lose anyway!
