Post Phillip Island
Double Victory!!! Details at 10.
To be honest im not a huge fan of this mod. But i think its just the practicing part that i dont like in these cars. Because the races are great fun!!
Couldn't get my head around in these during the week, so i put off practicing for tonights round until the last minute. I think i did a best of 2:06 something. In qualifying i did ok and grabbed third place behind um, Wally and Shano.
Race one started well, and Wally Shano and i took off into a battle straight away. It was goin ok for a while until around lap four when Shano decided not to slow down into T1, scaring the crap out of me and possibly Wally as he shot across infront of us. Sideways.
There was no collision and me and Wally kept on. A couple corners later i got a bit excited and decided not to brake enough into a slowwwww corner and turned the Mustang around releasing Wally into the distance.
I spent the next 6, yes 6 laps chasing Wally down. Was nice knowing i had ages to catch up due to the 25 min race format. had it been a 15 min race i woulda had no chance at all. The gap was slowly but steadily closing to Wally, but it was taking a whole heap of concentration to keep the Mustang in line and reel him in. On lap 11 i was right on Wallys bumper and had a cheeky go at passing into T1 and ended up over shooting letting him back by. Silly move.
On lap 12 coming into the tight bend Wally locked up and spun it round letting me by. I was a little worried i was too close and put too much pressure on but on review, i was miles back. Phew. Sad to see him go round, woulda been a nice battle to the end.
Ran home the remaining laps in 1st spot with Shano behind me.
Race 2 went very well. Having started in first (was expecting reverse grid) I got a great start and held Shano off for a few laps building a decent gap to him and Wally.
Very happy with my driving, only making a small error late in the race skimming the sand, but i had a buffer so no disaster. Um, yeah lead the race start to finish, just trying to nurse the Pony around the track. Slow and steady really does you well in the Mustang, if you push too hard you lose alot of time. Although i did spend a lot of both races in varying degrees of sideways.
great nite of good competition. well done to everyone who showed up.
